Christian Bale's THE FLOWERS OF WAR Gets a American Trailer

It maybe nearly the season to be jolly but it is also the time of the year the Oscar hopefuls make there push to become an contender for February's 84th Oscar Academy's. Zhang Yimou's THE FLOWERS OF WAR starring Christian Bale has released it's American trailer to promote the film which is China's official entry for best foreign film at the upcoming Oscar's. The Flowers Of War based on Yan Geling’s novel 13 Flowers Of Nanjing tells the story of a Jesuit priest John Haufman (Bale) in pre world war 2 Nanking city when Japan invaded China in 1937 a group of schoolgirls are joined by 13 prostitutes as they take refuge in the city's cathedral.
It looks a fantastic performance from Bale and a riveting emotional film which I'm sure will pull at the heartstrings of some of the viewers and this new trailer captures the violence as well as the anguish the Chinese people suffered. The cinematography is brilliant like something John Woo would potentially but have failed so how will Yimou succeed? Christian Bale his ability to nab a big Hollywood name will give this film an international appeal which like likely give this film a cinematic run in UK&Ireland probably sometime in 2012, which will be perfect for Bale with The Dark Knight Rises coming next year too.
The Flowers Of War is due a Chinese release date of December 16th.
