Watch the French exploitation pastiche Die Die My Darling

This hyper-violent, stylised triumph of exploitation pastiche comes from French filmmaker François Gaillard, who has been making these types of low-budget/high-production-value indie horrors for the past couple of years through his production company Le Chat qui Fume.

What’s most obvious about this formula of bold, neon colours, retro production design and blunt violence set to a hip, electro soundtrack is the uncanny likeness to Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive, although I think that’s more a case of the directors’ shared appreciation for the strong stylistic touches that pervaded ’70s/’80s exploitation and giallo.
