My exposure of Takashi Miike has always been Horror (Audition, Ichi The Killer) to Period war films (Hara-Kiri:Death of A Samurai, 13 Assassins)but last year the director opened all our eyes with his Kids film Ninja Kids! He has become a filmmaker not scared to cross genres and his next film AI TO MAKOTO (The Legend of Love & Sincerity) looks like has a hand in another genre of romantic drama which has elements of High School Musical in it too!
Based on a Ikki Kajiwara manga stars Emi Takei, Satoshi Tsumabuki (Villian).takei plays an innocent high school girl named Ai Saotome, and Tsumabuki will play the high school delinquent Makoto Taiga in the love story. It's just another film showcasing the cult directors versatility, its a colorful vibrant but refreshingly different film for Miike but like all his films we have no doubt he'll prove his worth.
Ai To Makoto will be released in Japan 16th June.
