Watch The Twisted But Fantastic KILLER JOE Trailer Starring Matthew McConaughey

Next Month the world’s oldest international film festival will kick off , Edinburgh International Film Festival and will open to the European premier for William Friedkin’s (The Exorcist) KILLER JOE and today we have the films first trailer and it’s a cracker! This film marks another gold star on the report card for Matthew McConaughey who hasn’t looked back after last year’s impressive The Lincon Lawyer which was a career saving performance and 2012/13  is a busy year for him with Magic Mike, Paperboy and Mud all waiting to entertain us all.
Killer Joe seems to be one of those films which could be difficult to create into a trailer without spoiling something of the story, what the trailer does do is show off some the dark humour it has to offer which looks a little morbid at times. McConaughey looks to have pulled off what many critics are calling his best career performance who plays Killer Joe Cooper a hitman hired by a young man (Emile Hirsch) whose life is spiralling out of control and hires Joe to kill his mother to get her insurance policy. Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church and Gina Gershon also star in the the film
One thing that’s causing a lot stir in film at the moment is film ratings, many film studios opting for more $$$ than integrity of the film  and Killer Joe has the dreaded NC-17 US rating (UK 18) many calling that rating the death of the film even if the film is critically perfect. No word on UK/Irish rating but the film will make its premier in Edinburgh on June 20th then been released nationwide on June 29th, USA release will be July 27th.

When 22-year-old Chris (Emile Hirsch) finds himself in debt to a drug lord, he hires a hit man to dispatch his mother, whose $50,000 life insurance policy benefits his sister Dottie (Juno Temple). Chris finds Joe Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a creepy, crazy Dallas cop who moonlights as a contract killer. When Chris can’t pay Joe upfront, Joe sets his sight on Dottie as collateral for the job. The contract killer and his hostage develop an unusual bond. Like from a modern-day, twisted fairy tale, “Killer Joe” Cooper becomes the prince to Dottie’s Cinderella. Based on the play by Pulitzer and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts, “Killer Joe” is a garish, proactive black comedy from Academy Award-winning director William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection) and stars Emile Hirsch, Matthew McConaughey, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church, and Gina Gershon.
