Set in 19th century Romania, AFERIM! tells the story of a local policeman and his son who have been hired by a boyar to track down a fugitive gypsy slave who has escaped from the boyar’s estate.
Shot in magnificent black and white cinemascope, AFERIM! is a captivating road movie that employs the conventions of the western genre, to unfold this Eastern tale of gypsy slavery in the 19th century.
