South Korean Disaster Flick Tunnel Unveils New Teaser Trailer

If you've ever been afraid to go into tunnels the new trailer for South Korean Disaster film Tunnel may scare you forever. In the short trailer released the promo teases the collapse of the tunnel may not be due to the natural surroundings or climate change but man made.

In Tunnel,a man is on his way home to his family, when the badly-constructed tunnel he is driving through collapses, leaving him trapped. With draining battery power and a rescue effort that might end before it locates him, he might be left to his own devices to find his way out.

Ok the trailer maybe in Korean, but it's effective even if you don't understand. It's refreshing to see disaster films based around individuals been trapped rather than groups or some natural disaster which sometimes gets a little overused. What we know the tunnel collapse maybe due to poor management which links up to recent scandals in the country including Sewoi Ferry disaster. Corruption rather than climate could be at fault in this one. The film is directed by one of the big players in Crime thrillers Kim Seong-hun who directed A Hard Day, one that could easily fit into of Hong Kong crime thrillers of Johnnie To, Dante Lam. It's a a different direction but Seong-Hun has already proven his versatility in film genres.

Tunnel has an late August South Korean release date and stars some Korean heavyweights including Ha Jeong-woo (Yellow Sea), Bae Doona (Cloud Atlas), Oh Dal-soo, Kim Jong-soo, Park Gene-woo, Kim Seung-hoon. source [TwichFilm]
