Nature just got gangsta as we enjoy the heartfelt but bombastic UK trailer for Taika Waititi's Hunt For Wilderpeople. It was a hit in it's native New Zealand, even Australian cinephile's adored it and next month it's time for UK and Ireland to enjoy the latest creation from the man behind What We Do In The Shadows.
When it comes to films reviewed by ourselves and our main site The Peoples Movies rarely do agree in the same outcome. For Hunt For Wilderpeople our writer Scott described as "hilarious, bombastic, odd-couple adventure" (read his review), Andrew who wrote The Peoples Movies review described it as "a majestic piece of cinema". Both guys reviews where that good they even made the film's official poster! (Scott's review quote under his own site Forbidden Room), Well Done guys!
Check out the film's UK Trailer...
Ricky, a defiant young city kid, finds himself on the run with his cantankerous foster uncle in the wild New Zealand bush after a series of misadventures befall the unlikely duo. A national manhunt ensues, and the two are forced to put aside their differences and work together in this hilarious and heartfelt adventure.
Based on the book Wild Pork and Watercress by Barry Crump, the film is written and directed by famed indie auteur Taika Waititi (What we do in the Shadows, Thor: Ragnarax) and stars Sam Neill (The Daughter, Long Way Down) and introduces rising star Julian Dennison.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople is the highest-grossing locally-produced film of all time and smashed box office records for highest-grossing opening weekend and highest-grossing first week following its phenomenal reception at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
Hunt For Wilderpeople is set for 16th September UK&Irish Cinema Release courtesy of Vertigo Releasing.
