If it wasnt for the internet I wouldn't be here! Its a wonderful play you be educated with, entertained with but theres the darkside of the internet that makes you wish the thing was never invented. Barbara Wong shows us a way to abuse with her new movie THE BREAK UP CLUB.
The movie is about Joe a young guy who is devasted his girlfriend Flora has split up with him and Joe decides to join 'The Break up Club' to get over his heartache. By joining the club they say he'll be able to get back with Flora if he can break up another couple and his friend is who he braks up and Flora is back with him, then she breaks up again, comes back and off again. Its one hell of a emotional rollercoaster for Joe and whilst he does this he talks to a director (wong playing herself) about the club!
Despite the movie playing a little like a documentary it is actually a drama with some comedy and of course romance thrown in too! The movie was released in Hong Kong back in June so now its doing the rounds of the film festivals and the next port of call for the movie is Toronto in September, trailer after the break...

Have you just been dumped? What if there was a website that could get your loved one back? There is ! It is called BreakUpClub.asia. All you have to do is break up another couple that are happily in love. Just fill in their names and voila! Would you do it? Our hero Joe is at the computer, about to press ENTER...

There's something of a charming feel about this movie despite been set in a backdrop of an steel works, I love the music too that gives the movie a real European edge even eastern european or even Juenet feel as the movies characters seem eccentric but also very likeable. Below after the break is a lengthy promo reel for Chinese filmmaker Zhang Meng's A PIANO IN A FACTORY.When you look at the setting of this movie it could really be anywhere as the world's industry is in decline and towns globally once thriving industrial centre are nothing more than a crumbling ghost town.
This movie will be playing at next month's Toronto Film Festival and you can check the promo reel and synopsis after the break....

"It's the season to be Exorcised La la la laaa!"  Old Nick and his disciples are bit of hot property in movieland at the momment with next week's release (Sept 3rd) Daniel Stamm's Last Exorcism (out now in USA), also The Night Chronicles Devil coming our way too and now we have another contender with EXORCISMUS.
The movie comes from the briliant mind of Manuel Carballo  who brought us [REC] and so Spain has brought us the one person cam zombie genre who better to delve into the underbelly of the Devil? Despite been released by Filmmax this is Carballo's first delve into the English speaking movies and in USA this movie is called The Possession of Emma Evans but in 2011 when the movie is due to be released again another similar movie of Possession of David O'Reilly, so now the main name is Exorcismus.
Expect this movie to enter the festival network very soon in 2010 early 2011, check out the new trailer after the break..

Fifteen-year-old Emma Evans is like any other teenage girl; she thinks that her parents don't understand her. She longs for independence and a life free of family ties and responsibilities and she is prepared to do anything to achieve it. But one day she will be forced to face up to the consequences of her actions.

Life seems to be carrying on as normal, until one day Emma starts experiencing frightening fits. Her parents are convinced that her problems are either medical or psychological, but when doctors´ tests are unable to draw any conclusions, the family is forced to look elsewhere for answers.

It all started off as a bit of fun, Emma never really believed it, but the truth is there is something dark and sinister within her, and it won't take long to surface.

TIFF 2010:Trailer For Koen Mortier's 22ND OF MAY

Koen Mortier made a name for himself with his debut movie EX-Drummer a movie about disabled guys creating a  rockband who hire a local writer to play drums and all there new drummer can do is manipulate them. The movie gots a massive cult following worldwide and rightly so and now the Belgium director is back with a more shattering  movie 22 MAI (may) which is due to have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
The movie centre's arounda security guard called sam who is a guard at a small shopping mall that becomes a victim of a terrorist explosion, its a more somber affair than Mortier's previous movie and I really love the slow motion of the trailer as when life changing events happen they happen fast and reality doesn't sink in but if slow things down you start to get a feel of whats just happened! Check out the first trailer after the break...

... While everything around him is burning, Sam tries his best to help. He drags a woman outside against her will. She is screaming, struggling to get back inside to save her child. But Sam is already back on the scene, trying to rescue other victims, all of them just as helpless as he is. They are strewn over the floor, covered in blood, their clothes shredded to pieces, feeling utterly lost. As their cries turn into screams, Sam is overpowered by fear and panic. First there was the shock, then the realization of what happened. Without thinking, he starts to run, turning his back to the apocalyptic scene. He flees, running along the streets of a city that once felt as familiar as a friend, but now seems more like a dark monster ...

If Bill&Ted was mashed up with Beavis and Butthead, what would the final result be? You would get Terry and Deaner aka FUBAR II!!The Canadian Cult flick is back for another dose of heavy metal madness from its two douche bags Terry & Deaner who are no-brainers, more interested in drink beer listening to metal music, having trash eviction parties, driving cars down snowbanks, the more insane you think the more likely these guys.
Beer, beer, beer, beer, more beer, beer, girls, beer, beer, beer, beer, girls, beers, rock music, beer, beer, girls, and did I mention Beer?
Honestly I didnt know much about this apart from its a cult hit in north America and the movie is due to have its debut at Toronto Film Festival before its release in Canada cinematically on October 1st.

News filtered through late last night that one of Animation & Japanese animation’s great filmmakers has died, Satoshi Kon director of Paprika and creator of Paranoia Agent at the age of 47.

The news filtered through twitter on Madhouse Anime Studio’s Twitter page that the Kon-san had passed away. Madhouse studios where in the forefront of distributing Kon’s work which also included Tokyo Godfathers, Millenium Actress and Perfect Blue all movies of the highest distinction and respected worldwide.

Satoshi Kon’s careerstarted first as a comicbook artist for Japanese Manga YOUNG Magazine before making his screenwriting debut for the Animated anthology Memories in a story called MAGNETIC ROSE an animation which included work from the animation master Katshiuro Otomo (Akira) who was a big inspiration to to Kon and gave him his first breaking working on various project including Roujin Z.

If anyone who said Animation and Movies are not in the same league think again, Kon work followed lifes tribulations, emotions, provoking peoples minds psychologically virtually every animation he created or was involved would transide into live action version easily simply because the characters he created where very human. His inspiration inspiration was seen worldwide not just in animation but in hollywood with Cristopher Nolan’s work been inspired greatly by Kon especially on Inception with Kon’s Paprika movie (check out the Inception/Paprika mashup trailer below).

Its beleived Satoshi Kon died of cancer weeks after his 47th birthday and we shouldn’t remember how the director died but remember him for his great legacy of films he has left us, celebrate his work. Its sad we may never see the light of his upcoming 2011 movie The Dream Machine possibly in memory of his work to the animation world. Rest in In Piece Satoshi Kon-San.
