CANNES 2011: First Trailer For Indie thriller MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE

Every Film festival there seems to be a major buzz about one or two films some reaching fever pitch levels, just look at Joe Cornish’s Attack The Block. One of those movies is MARTHA MACY MAY MARLENE which was one of the big winners at this Year’s Sundance Festival with director Sean Durkin (in his debut feature) nabbing best director and the star of the film Elizabeth Olsen  as Best Breakout Star (last year was Jennifer Lawrence). Apart from London & Edinburgh film festival most of the films that play in UK & Irish film festivals have already played several festivals Stateside  before they arrive which is sort good for all us over this side of the big pond as it builds our momentum up when that movie does arrive we can enjoy it. What we’re hearing from our American blogger’s this movie is going to be big that Olsen and John Hawkes ( who looks disturbing in this) will be in the running for next years Oscar’s which may sound a little premature but that how highly thought this movie is.

MARTHA MACY MAY MARLENE  is a story of a young woman trying to sort herself out after  escaping from an abusive cult she is haunted by those memories, paranoia. This is our first look at this movie which the trailer presents the movie well not giving too much away, but enough lets us know this looks a fantastic eerie emotional complex film.

There’s no word on a UK& Irish release date just yet however movie does have a American release of October 7th, but if your going to Cannes Film Festival the movie will be screened there. The movie also stars  Christopher Abbott, Brady Corbet, Hugh Dancy, Maria Dizzia, Julia Garner, John Hawkes, Louisa Krause, Sarah Paulson.
