Post Apocalyptic Short Animation from 1956 'A SHORT VISION'

I was only around for the last 10 year or so of it but living during the Cold War era in the 1950's into the 1960's must have been a terrifying experience. It was the worry that American or Russian leaders could easily press the button and we all die of a nuclear holocaust, even today's society the fear is still there as well looking back at those cold decades.

Lets go back to May 1956 and the Ed Sullivan show one of America's most popular (and very conservative) chat shows, it was May 27th and expecting to see some camp variety act Ed sprung  a big scary surprise on them. A SHORT VISION  is a post apocalyptic short animated movie which simply scared the crap out of the viewers as well as bring dark nightmares to a generation of kids. The short does look very dated now but you the visual style is still a little haunting and a warning of an era we never want to go near again.

Enjoy the short, leave your thought below and before you watch A SHORT VISION read the extract of Ed Sullivan's introduction...

"Just last week you read about the H-bomb being dropped. Now two great English writers, two very imaginative writers - I'm gonna tell you if you have youngsters in the living room tell them not to be alarmed at this ‘cause it's a fantasy, the whole thing is animated - but two English writers, Joan and Peter Foldes, wrote a thing which they called ‘A Short Vision' in which they wondered what might happen to the animal population of the world if an H-bomb were dropped. It's produced by George K. Arthur and I'd like you to see it. It is grim, but I think we can all stand it to realize that in war there is no winner."
