One way to get peoples attention for a film is to shock them but you have to have some skill to impress as well and Lisa Aschan has done that with SHE MONKEYS (Apflickorna). The movie this year has been doing the rounds of the world's film festivals clocking up some impressive feedback as well as bagging itself some prizes like Best Narrative feature at Tribeca, Special mention at Berlin. The movie is a story of sex, adolescence, power, and ambition between 2 teenage girls who are friends who challenge themselves physically and psychologically, its a cold hearted tale which may shock some people but also impress them at the same. What we also liked about this is the fact the director is also a former student of Film school of Denmark big friends of Cinehouse as well as been the film school that started the ball rolling for Lars Von Trier a school that challenges students to be original, artistic and break all taboos which SHE MONKEYS certainly does.
The movie will be released next week 3rd August in France with the movie then getting a release in Aschan's native Sweden on September 2nd.
