New Photos and Synopsis for Yorgos Lanthimos’ ALPS

Purveyors of bizzare, left-field cinema should definitely keep an eye on this one. Details of Greek breakout director Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming film have emerged courtesy of Film Press Plus. His previous feature Dogtooth snagged the Un Certain Regard Award at Cannes in 2009 and even managed to get an Oscar nomination despite it's darkly surreal content that was pretty much the antithesis of Hollywood glamour.

By the sounds of it he hasn't given up on high concept weirdness! Alps will premiere at the 68th Venice Film Fest (La Biennale di Venezia) in September. Check out the official synopsis as well as additional press shots below:

A Nurse, a Paramedic, a Gymnast and her Coach have formed a service for hire. They stand in for dead people by appointment, hired by the relatives, friends, or colleagues of the deceased. The company is called Alps while their leader, the Paramedic, calls himself Mont Blanc.

Although the Alps members operate under a discipline regime demanded by their leader, the Nurse doesn't... From the director of the Oscar-nominated DOGTOOTH
