This short little horror movie is dark, creepy but fantastically created with a simple but solid story and you'll see why Del Toro wanted to get this to the cinema screens.

Exclusive Clip of Vahalla Rising (Mads Mikkleson)

No comments:

Recieved this exclusive clip from Vertigo Films over the weekend for Valhalla Rising  directed (and co -wrote) by Nicolas Winding Refn. who also directed the Pusher Trilogy and Bronson. Movie stars Mads Mikkleson (Casino Royale, Pusher Trilogy and soon Clash of The Titans remake) as the movies leading warrior  One-eye. Both men have worked together in previous movies and every director has their favourite lead as does every actor has their favourite directors.
Even though we have seen Soloman Kane we havent really seen a action packed epic actually based on people of our previous history and in this case vikings. A story which isn't covered up with over the top CGI but what you get is honest story telling with does have the brutality mixed in with (real) stunning backdrops.

Vahalla Rising did the rounds at many of the 2009 film festivals including London returning with positive reviews. The movie will be released in UK & Ireland by Vertigo and no release date yet confirmed but the movie will be released in Denmark this coming Friday, 5th March.

imdb synopsis:
1000 AD, for years, One Eye, a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the Norse chieftain Barde. Aided by Are, a boy slave, One Eye slays his captor and together he and Are escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight, One Eye and Are board a Viking vessel, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that clears only as the crew sights an unknown land. As the new world reveals its secrets and the Vikings confront their terrible and bloody fate, One Eye discovers his true self

hello all and once again many thanks for all your support for my blog. I know there's been certain things taking a little longer than expected like the menu and the blogs other pages, I wont bore you with excuses but apoligies for taking forever. I thought I would let you know that today and this week I will be working on those pages and hopefully this time next week they will look a lot better than before. I am also considering rechanging the look of this blog again maybe in line with the other pages as I had add the pages in manually usung outside free webhost, but ill let you know later. So check out the other pages other the next week or two.
Well today is the end of the glasgow international film festival with the world premiere of LEGACY a indie thriller starring The Wire star Idris Elba as an ex black-ops soldier returning home full of redemption of a botched up operation in eastern europe and finds himself stuck in a rundown Brooklyn motel. Funnily enough the movie was mostly shot in Glasgow, Scotland simply due to the movies studio been based there, I was unable to get a press pass for the premiere, though ill try see if I can get a screener and review it. The movie was directed by nigerian born Londoner Thomas Ikimi and I this years festival has been an overall sucess. In its 6th year its sales figures have went from 6,000 to over 25,000 which is absolutely fantastic as this festival is not regarded as one of the big ones though give it a few years and the festival will breathing dow the neck of its neighbouring city (only 36 miles away) Edinburgh which is regarded as a big festival.
Overall ive been able to see some great movies on the screen or through screeners and i've been able to see scottish premiere of Gentleman's bronco, heartless also Until The Light Takes us, Kakera, Evagellion 1.0, Frozen (european premiere) Whip it, Bad Lieutenant which will be reviewed over the next week or two and you'll the reviews here and on the peoplesmovies blog.

In this world her closest friend is her horse Red  at her father's stable and she returns home from school to find that her dad has got a an stud horse to impregenate Red and she arrives in shock to see it happening. This is Molly rude awakening as well graphic introduction to the birds and the bees which she cannot decipher and as her family life collapses around her there's a whole new ball game called life awaiting ahead of her.
The trailer is crafted well and show's youngsters find out about lifes tribulations in many varied ways but as we all know we've got learn about the birds and the bees one day. Jean Reno looking back at his best with L'IMMORTEL (22 BULLETS) Trailer

source TwitchFilm
Jean Reno was to introduced to Hollywood in 1994 when Leon (The Professional) and also introduced Natalie Portman. Like Tim Burton and Johnny Depp Jean Reno & Luc Besson seem to have a similar connection of seeming to work together very  well, so after several years of not working together and both people seemed to have went different directions. As Reno's career seem to be going knowhere like many big foreign stars these days.
Like Jackie Chan, Jean Reno has went back to his roots and working again with Besson though it be in his production studio Europa Corp and L'IMMORTEL (22 BULLETS). It puts Besson back in the lead as Charly a Ex-Marseille Mafia who went  straight for 3 years living a quite life with family & wife, but one day he was left for dead with 22 bullets in his body.  There's only one man who would have any reason to kill him was Tony Zacchia and he's made one mistake thats not kill him.
Below is the theatrical trailer for the movie and with it been released by Europa Corp there's a great chance the movie will be released in UK & Ireland through the arthouse cinemas. As for release date it'll be released March 24th in Belgium and France.

Dead Sno directors new flick...Kurt Josef Wagle And The Legend of the Fjord Witch,

You wonder if the nazi-zombie horror Dod Sno (Dead Snow) wasn't a hit would we have been blessed with crazy mad world of  Tommy Wirkola? probably not. We've had Tomme Toner a gangster spoof and now we have Kurt Josef Wagle And The Legend of the Fjord Witch.
This is a spoof piss take mocumentary taking the rip out of the current trend of Paranormal Activivty/[REC]/Blair Witch project movies, the one person shooter movies. When you see the name of the movie the biggest clue is there is a mock and boy Tommy know how to make these look so good even when the above trailer is not subtitled! It was done on the cheap as well as quickly but we dont care this looks fun!

Lena Dunham's TINY FURNITURE Trailer

I can sort of relate with Aura the main protaginist in TINY FURNITURE, just finished college/university got a degree you return home hopefully start a newlife . Things aren't going great at home with your artist mum & teenage sister but most off all no job abd no friends. I went down to england to manchester to university get a degree then when things were over I went home, no job,  and who where my friends had there own lives things moved on, bored and getting on everyones nerves.
Tiny Furniture is written, directed and stars Lena Dunham plays Aura and the film starts at a critical stage of her life stuck  no direction and very unhappy. Believe it or not her on screen mum and sister are her realife family so you can say this is a "real-life" tragic-comedy drama. What I do like about this is it publicises our lives seemed by ruled by the social networks of youtube, facebook, twitter, then again this blog wouldn't exsist!
The reason for the SXSW logo is that I could find a photo for this movie and the movie is been played at the festival which takes place in Austin, texas USA starting on March 12th.

MICMACS: Jean Pierre Juenet Interview

No comments:
source ThePeoplesMovies
Only a few days left of the Glasgow Film Festival despite my disappointment of myself unable to get to see majority of the movies I wished to see I have to say it has been a fantastic festival .The festival kicked off big style with MICMACS directed by Jean Pierre Juenet and some of you will know who he is others maybe not.
French director has brought us some eccentric but wonderfull movies that have grace the cinemas in his native country along with around the world, movies like Amelie, A Long Engagement, Delicatessen, City of The Lost Children and oddly enough Alien Ressurection his only break into Hollywood.
His latest Movie Micmacs follows the story of a man called Brazil who watches a drive by gang shooting which nearly ends in tradegy for him when a  gun from one of the gang falls to the ground and he is shot in the head. After recovering Brazil with his oddball selection of friends create a plan to destroy the 2 weapons manufacturers involved in the gangwar.
Our good Blog buddy friends at Screenrush caught up with the director and had a little chat about his new movie and you can watch the video interview below and under that is the UK trailer for the movie as well.
