ANALOG trailer from Ebbëto on Vimeo.

Above is the trailer for sci-fi short ANALOG created by Brazilian director Ebbeto.

The short movie is the second movie from this director and the short is currently doing the rounds at the film festivals and is getting some fantastic feedback. The movie can only be described visually as a minimalistic metropolis meets 1984 with a bit of Tron thrown in for good measure.

Analog is a film that  tells the tale of a machine travelling in deep-space which has as a primary function the preservation of a living organism: a man. Strange events with biblical analogies begin, disturbing the machine and making it rethink it's priorities.

I have a funny feeling it played Glasgow Film Festival last month and if it did ill go crazy, this just looks stunning. I tried to see if the full short was online but my search was unsucessfull.

Been an ex-graphic design univerity student despite not been working in that industry I still have the eye for powerful graphics and it was the posters for LEGACY (like one on left) that attracted me to what the movie was all about.
The movie was directed by Nigerian born London raised director Thomas Ikimi, so roll on February's Glasgow International Film Festival and the press launch and Thomas was there to promote his new movie and to announce Glasgow was to be the movies world premiere and closing movie. I tried in vein even with my press pass to get ticket for it along with opening movie Micmacs and I was left dissappointed.
Several people have asked me why did he picked Glasgow Film Fest not Tribeca, Sundance or even Edinburgh for his movies premiere? Simple the movie studio that back and created his movie was Black Camel from Glasgow so what better way to thank them and have it premiered in Glasgow. So whose in it and whats it all about?
The movie stars The Wire's Idris Elba as an Black Ops Operative whocomes back home after an failed mission in Eastern Europe. He's stuck in a Brooklyn motel torn apart from retribution and Salvation and as things close in on him it may only be the story is all he can leave behind.
Do you the amount of people who actually believe Idris Elba is American, well he's not ,born and bred in London just simply down to the amount of American based movies and television he has done in the past, so when I had to tell my American friends who are massive Fans of The Wire he's British they were shocked! The other thing that may surprise you is that the setting for the movie isn't actually Brooklyn its Glasgow, Scotland!!! Thomas Ikimi studied Film in New York and spent 6 years of his life in the metropolis and was able to adapt.
The movie also stars The Wire's Eamon Walker, Monique Gabriela Curnen and Richard Brake. There's No release date yet but expect a release sometime this year possibly summertime.

Here's the trailer for R a Danish prison drama directed by Tobias Lindholm.

Majority of prison movies are like Romcoms, you can figure out the story and it'll have a predictable ending. The prison in this movie is meant to be the toughest in Denmark and looks more like a summer camp !

If you do want to see this its out April 22nd in Denmark.

synopsis:The prisoner R arrives to Denmark’s toughest prison, where he is to serve a sentence for violent assault. R is reduced to a number, a letter, just another inmate. The prison is a parallel world filled with rules, honor, and debts. A world,in which bars cover the windows and blood stains the floor. R is placed in the most hardcore ward. Here he must find his place in the system, learn to navigate, and fight for survival.
