French Trailer For Pablo Larrain's POST MORTEM
SourceTWITCH
We all love our movies dont we? Off course we do I wouldnt have created this blog and you guys wouldnt be here reading this post so we love when filmmakers create a fantastic movie. So after they create that great movie we antcipate there next movie and hope that they suceed or at equal that sucess and this is the case for Chilean director Pablo Larain. A few years back he brought us the highly sucessful Tony Manero, the serial killer who was inspired by John Travolta's Saturday Night Fever character, so the pressure has been on him but after been selected for this years Venice Film Festival with POST MORTEM.
The movie is set in the backdrop of the 1973 Chilean political uprisings and revolves around Victor a middle aged man who helps out at the local Mortary documenting the bodies that come through there doors. As this is the 1970's Chile it was one certain Facist dictator General Pinochet who overthrew the government in power, sadly his biggest ally was another facist dictator Margaret Thatcher!
We can say Larrain has suceeded himself with this movie, check out the French trailer after the break...

Never Trust a Hippy, Trailer For Chilean Slaher BABY SHOWER
sourceTwitch
When I read the opening lines from the source of this post "Never trust a hippy" I havent got a clue what Pablo Illanes' was all about especially with his new movie BABY SHOWER and frankly still dont!
The movie has been labelled Chile's first Slasher/Gore movie and the evidence on hand it does look the case and its also Illanes cinematic debut as well as all his career has been in television. I wonder with the ladies in this movie , yes there at a babyshower but does the movie's title have a another meaning? Checkout the trailer and synopsis after the break....

Killer Blenders From Brazil in trailer for Reflections of a Blender (Reflexões de um Liquidificador)
source QuietEarth
Killers come in all shapes an sizes but would you ever think of a blender been a killer?! Well in this Brazilian comedy Reflections of a Blender (Reflexões de um Liquidificador) it talks to its owner Elvira (Ana Lúcia Torre) who has just killed her husband and disposed of him using the blender!!!
This sounds absolutely crazy but the insane you just have to check out what this is all about and a good part of the movie I understand is all about Elvira's relationship with her husband and the fact the Blender (voiced by Selton Mello) has been observing them plus he knows her darkest deep secrets too!. After efforts to look like her hubby has just vanished I think we can say they'll be a comedy of errors on show as things just go downhill, check out the trailer after the break...

Cult Chilean Director Nicholas Lopez tells us ...F*CK MY LIFE, new trailer
source Twitch
Cult Chilean Film director Nicholas Lopez is feeling very nostalgic, romantic and basically drunk with his new flick QUE PENA TU VIDA (Fuck My Life).
This romantic comedy is the one for the 'Facebook Generation', the generationof young people where everything that happens in your life has to be told online via Facebook or txt, they control your life, I can relate to this with previous job I had to work with younger people (early 20's) and everything they did was facebook this, facebook that. In this movie the guy of the movie life seems to rotate getting laid even though he's unemployed and getting what he wants its good old Facebook! But his previous girlfriends/lovers are all over his page! He even had one lover thought she would be pregent as she stood on a used condom!
After the break you can watch the english subtitled trailer and as for the target audience Lopez want's well this movie will be a preview shown before the new upcoming Twilight movie in Chile! enough said!!!

The trailer for Director:Wagner de Assis NOSSO LAR
Source QuietEarth
I'll openly admit I dont follow a religion and when I was young I was brought up as a cathloic. To me after oil religion is the biggest culprit for the problem in todays society worldwide, I hate when people try and force religion down your throat and get told by rightwing nobodies that my religion is wrong we are better than you. I appreciate religion has its positives but people who want religion should find it own there own terms.
Nosso Lar is one person's vision of an area in the afterlife that spiritually you can go to after death. The story does follow one man doctor André Luiz on his journey from death to afterlife and his discovery of Nosso Lar which is an city. Been from Brazil it may have a catholic inspiration to it (Brazil is an predominately catholic country) so it may upset some of those right wing conservatives outthere. This does look fascinating but religion is an sensatitive issue and people will say "the afterlife isn't like this" how do you know, have you died? And its this issue that upset me when people critised Peter Jackson's vision in The Lovely Bones, with religious nuts coming out saying afterlife isnt like this. Whatever you think 20th Century fox like this so I'll expect a remake a few years down the line.
Just respect religion and embrace the knowledge that there is so many religions out there and every one has their own visions & views which will not be the same as yours and never criticise anything you dont like and not to expect criticism back.
The movie is directed by Wagner de Assis and the film is based on the works of Xico Xavier with the movie coming out September 3rd in Brazil

Trailer for Brazillian sci-fi Short ANALOG
ANALOG trailer from Ebbëto on Vimeo.
source QuietEarth
Above is the trailer for sci-fi short ANALOG created by Brazilian director Ebbeto.
The short movie is the second movie from this director and the short is currently doing the rounds at the film festivals and is getting some fantastic feedback. The movie can only be described visually as a minimalistic metropolis meets 1984 with a bit of Tron thrown in for good measure.
Analog is a film that tells the tale of a machine travelling in deep-space which has as a primary function the preservation of a living organism: a man. Strange events with biblical analogies begin, disturbing the machine and making it rethink it's priorities.
I have a funny feeling it played Glasgow Film Festival last month and if it did ill go crazy, this just looks stunning. I tried to see if the full short was online but my search was unsucessfull.

South America is one continent that year after year provides movie fans worldwide with some stunning, impressive movies we could do a whole website just on south American movies but we dont have the time. Jorge is an taxi driver distraught due to his brothers recent death to the hands of a group of criminals and Angela, an artist an anmesiac hooked on cocaine. The loniless and the void of danger caalled Bogota (Colombia) that will lead both souls to a dark redemming enounter.

Fantastic trailer for Argentinian Thriller Cano Dorado
source TwitchFilm
Argentina are a country reknowned for creating many crime thriller movies by the dozen, its like the countries filmakers where born to make these movies and below is an exceptional movie called Cano Dorado (The Golden Gun).
Many Argentian thrillers seem to be very slow paced, stylish ala arthouse but Cano Dorado directed by Eduardo Pinto is very much different, raw in your face and full of energy very refreshing for the country's movie industry and I would have no quarrels of watching this, great stuff.
Here's the movie's synopsis which was posted on TwitchFilm:

This is the story of Panceta, a young laborer from one of the poorer suburbs in Greater Buenos Aires. He lives with his mother, a widow, who greatly misses her husband, as does Panceta his father. Panceta's life is focused on his work: he's taken over his fathers forge, as well as working at a pipe factory. But his ambitions to make money have made him turn to manufacturing home-made guns and selling them in the outlying districts. Inexperienced and unaware of the danger, he is challenged by the local mafia.
One night when delivering his guns he meets Clara, a young girl working at the local community hall. They fall in love and decide to run away, going off in a freeing boat trip along the river. A man in love becomes an easy prey for his enemies, especially for Tacom, a powerful local mafia boss.
What had begun as a game turns grey and ever darker - the consequences are tragic and tormenting.
