When your last movie was about a upcoming student whom looses their memory and becomes a masked wrestler what would your next movie be? That is the quest Norihiro Koizumimust have asked himself.
When Gachi Boy came out a few years ago it became an instant hit in and around the international festival scene and Koizumi gained an reputation of creating movies completely different from what people may call 'normal'. Well for his new flick Flowers he has created an movie which is the absolute opposite from Gachi Boy with an drama which has elements of period in it with following 6 women over 3 generations. There will be the trademarks of an Koizumi movie in it but what we can say is Norihiro Koizumi is one of the best character movie directors in Japan.

Not that long ago I gave you the first trailer for Lee Jun-ik's Like The Moon Escaping From The Clouds, well below is trailer 2 for the movie with its new shorter name Blades of Blood.
The new name of the movie is virtually a exact translation of original Korean name, I think it may have alot to do with the Western Market. If you did see this movie advertised you may aitomatically assume it's more a love story rather historical war drama.
Apart from the movies name you may automatically assume this is an rip-off of the classic Japanese Zaoitichi series due to the fact the movies main protaginist is blind, actually there's no connection the story comes from a Korean manga comicbook though I would count out some inspiration from the Japanese story.
Like'em or loathe'm the Asian movie industry know how to do an epic historical battle with great ease, check out the new extended teaser trailer (no.2).

The curious citizens that inhabit the wondrous land of Vauxhull believe the universe to be governed by four gods. There’s Po, the flirtatious and free spirited Goddess of Love; Pik, the macabre Lord of Hate; and Pjorrc, the God of Time, who diabolically plots over the earth from his clockwork fortress on the moon.
Lastly, there is Obble-Dee-Puh Puh, the God of All Gods and Creator of All Things. The shrouded king who sits comfortably upon a throne of ascendancy, controlling the destinies of all living things. Men live their lives whilst the gods provide them with the means to make them extraordinary. And there is balance.
But within this mythological world of autumn landscapes and peculiar creatures, a heartbroken young Romantic swears a vicious oath to free the human race from the omnipotent control of the otherworldly gods. Blaming the divine forces for the loss of a past love, Romance embarks on a vengeful showdown with the Holy Host. Along the way he befriends Patience, a crackpot alcoholic who fulfills the role of mentor to Romance’s hero. Together the two traverse the lands, romancing women and hunting the divine.

If you are like myself very dissappointed on the recent Tim Burton version of Alice In Wonderland maybe this will cheer you up, well for the adults. Wyatt Denny has created a independent short where The Mad Hatter and co have been replaced sex, drugs and Russian Roulette in Alice & The White Hair. Alice is now a callgirl and walkouts of clubs with guys who look like something out of a marylin manson video, The tea party is now a crazy game of Russian Roulette!!! This is an stylish, contemporary modern twist to the classic Lewis Carroll story, come to think of it the original was a bit of a strange affair as well!!!
Visually this is good stuff plenty of eye candy plus full of up to date effects which dont overstate the movie but just blend in nicely. This movie is 15 minutes long and does suit the style of this adaptation, so enjoy!!!

Australian Cinema has always had a decent reception in UK over the past decade or two. If you switch on UK television you'll find 1 in 3 soaps are Australian and more recently on Scottish television we've had Underbelly a violentish crime drama. But when it comes to America it's not as great though that could change with THE SQUARE. The Square is an stylish crime drama about Raymond a man tangled up in a love affair with Carla, a beautiful but troubled woman. She tests Raymond's moral limits when she brings him the cash earnings from her husbands latest crime dealings. They have once chance to go it alone, take the money and run...
The movie has been directed by stunt man Nash Edgerton, brother of Joel who is in the soon to be released awesome Animal Kingdom as well playing the Kurt Russell role in THE THING prequel.
This movie played at last years London Australian Film festival but there's been no theatrical release (or maybe we blinked and missed it), but American movie fans can see the movie on a limited release on April 9th with a possibly full release in May. Canadian movie fans will see a theatrical release on April 16th.

Above is the trailer for sci-fi short ANALOG created by Brazilian director Ebbeto.
The short movie is the second movie from this director and the short is currently doing the rounds at the film festivals and is getting some fantastic feedback. The movie can only be described visually as a minimalistic metropolis meets 1984 with a bit of Tron thrown in for good measure.
Analog is a film that tells the tale of a machine travelling in deep-space which has as a primary function the preservation of a living organism: a man. Strange events with biblical analogies begin, disturbing the machine and making it rethink it's priorities.
I have a funny feeling it played Glasgow Film Festival last month and if it did ill go crazy, this just looks stunning. I tried to see if the full short was online but my search was unsucessfull.

Been an ex-graphic design univerity student despite not been working in that industry I still have the eye for powerful graphics and it was the posters for LEGACY (like one on left) that attracted me to what the movie was all about.
The movie was directed by Nigerian born London raised director Thomas Ikimi, so roll on February's Glasgow International Film Festival and the press launch and Thomas was there to promote his new movie and to announce Glasgow was to be the movies world premiere and closing movie. I tried in vein even with my press pass to get ticket for it along with opening movie Micmacs and I was left dissappointed.
Several people have asked me why did he picked Glasgow Film Fest not Tribeca, Sundance or even Edinburgh for his movies premiere? Simple the movie studio that back and created his movie was Black Camel from Glasgow so what better way to thank them and have it premiered in Glasgow. So whose in it and whats it all about?
The movie stars The Wire's Idris Elba as an Black Ops Operative whocomes back home after an failed mission in Eastern Europe. He's stuck in a Brooklyn motel torn apart from retribution and Salvation and as things close in on him it may only be the story is all he can leave behind.
Do you the amount of people who actually believe Idris Elba is American, well he's not ,born and bred in London just simply down to the amount of American based movies and television he has done in the past, so when I had to tell my American friends who are massive Fans of The Wire he's British they were shocked! The other thing that may surprise you is that the setting for the movie isn't actually Brooklyn its Glasgow, Scotland!!! Thomas Ikimi studied Film in New York and spent 6 years of his life in the metropolis and was able to adapt.
The movie also stars The Wire's Eamon Walker, Monique Gabriela Curnen and Richard Brake. There's No release date yet but expect a release sometime this year possibly summertime.

synopsis:The prisoner R arrives to Denmark’s toughest prison, where he is to serve a sentence for violent assault. R is reduced to a number, a letter, just another inmate.
