No comments:

To be honest Im not and never really been a western movie fan, ive tried and even the more modern day one I really cant get into but I can see how people love them like Felipe Cazals' western drama Chicogrande.
This movie has been chosen to open up the san sebastian festival and focuses on the American army during the Mexican revolution on pursuit of the legendary Pancho Villa. The trailer is actually in English but how much of the actual movie is in English is a good guess, trailer after the break....

Following the frustrated invasion of Columbus, Pancho Villa retreats, only to be injured in the leg by Carranza's troops in the city of Guerrero. The North Americans, on Mexican territory, launch a massive campaign to capture him dead or alive. Convalescent, Villa takes refuge deep in the mountains. Chicogrande, a young follower of Villa, is given the task of finding medical assistance and is prepared to give up his own life in the attempt.

TIFF 2010: Surreal Trailer For THE ADDER'S BITE

What I love about international festivals is the bigger they are the more likely a trailer of some sort will appear online and the darker and surreal they are I seem to be a sucka for them and THE ADDER'S BITE Falls under the category.
Firas Momani The Adder's Bite is a short 9 minute horror-sci-fi inspired by the workings of  famous German philosopher Nietzsche and this movie looks at the relationship of humans and parasites and our dependancy on both the look is very gritty to reminds me of Lynch's Dark City.
The movie has picked up a few awards including one at the Montreal short film festival maybe it'll do it again in a couple of weeks with Toronto Festival? Check out the trailer and synopsis after the break...

I'M STILL HERE -Get's a UK Release

No comments:
Optimum Releasing today sent me the UK Trailer for Casey Affleck documentary film based on his brother in law, everyones favourite mad man Joaquin Phoenix.
The movie is based on the 'lost year' of the troubled stars life where he basically gave everything up to persue a career as a rapstar under the wing of P-Diddy aka Sean Combs. The question you ask is this really a mockamentary? Or is it the downward spiral of a troubled actor who has mentally as well as pyshically let go of reality?
Whatever the movie is trying to be you'll laugh, cry, cringe and even you'll ask why?!
The movie will be out a week on Friday (10th) USA released by Magnolia Pictures but for UK its Optimum Releasing and will be out probably limited release on September 17th.

Trailer after the break...

The directorial debut of Oscar-nominated actor Casey Affleck, I'M STILL HERE is a striking portrayal of a tumultuous year in the life of internationally acclaimed actor Joaquin Phoenix. With remarkable access, I'M STILL HERE follows the Oscar-nominee as he announces his retirement from a successful film career in the fall of 2008 and sets off to reinvent himself as a hip hop musician. Sometimes funny, sometimes shocking, and always riveting, the film is a portrait of an artist at a crossroads. Defying expectations, it deftly explores notions of courage and creative reinvention, as well as the ramifications of a life spent in the public eye.

I’m Still Here is released in cinemas on September 17.

Intense Experimental Arthouse movie - ANAPHYLAXIS Trailer

No comments:
sourceQuietEarth
ANAPHYLAXIS is an experimental/arthouse movie from British director  Ayman Mokhtar and we constantly here about big mainstream movies having certain scenes shot on front of a green screen and muted. The movie was actually filmed 3 years ago in 2007 but its taken 2 years to go through the post production and the world premiere was actually last november in Sao Paulo. A very unique looking film which looks like something Lars Von Trier may have created or as my friend said its like something out of a Bettlejuice movie set?! Trailer after the break

A successful doctor, content with life, develops a strange illness – anaphylaxis, a severe allergy to human skin. He tries to defy his illness, but his life is tuned upside down by his inability to touch people. He can’t function professionally, socially or intimately with his fiancée, whom he eventually loses.
Then he discovers that dead bodies don’t trigger his illness. He withdraws from life around him to work as a pathologist, dealing only with dead bodies. Life is calm until he encounters a woman’s dead body covered from neck to toe with writing. Intrigued, he starts to read.
She was a poet. Imprisoned as a wife and mother, she suffered postnatal depression. Writing was her solace, but she sought escape so much it became a dangerous obsessive compulsive disorder. They locked her in a psychiatric hospital to recover. When released, she was told not to touch a pen again. But she did – to end it all by writing her story on her skin, dying as a result.
Reading her story, the doctor discovers a profound bond between his experiences of solitude and those recounted in her tattooed words. The dead poet becomes the doctor’s only chance for a human connection before the next touch kills him. He reaches to her across the boundaries of death with one last act – of love.
