Source QiuetEarth
Back in January I brought you a trailer for the coming of age indie drama thriller DESERT SON, a movie directed by
James Mann & Brandon Nicholas., now below you watch a new second trailer which has went online over the weekend.
Back in January the movie never had a distribution deal but thankfully now Shoreline Entertainment have picked up the distro rights and  now a new recut trailer (see below) has been created. Despite the distributor been found I dont have any word if the movie will be shown in UK or Ireland.

Shoreline Entertainment  synopsis:
Phillip is abandoned in the desert by his stepfather. He is found unconscious days later by Lucy and Jack, two orphans who live in an abandoned mining town in the middle of nowhere. They bring Phillip back to health and quickly initiate him into their dangerous lifestyle. Together they embark on spree of increasingly risky and violent crimes committed in the name of survival. But the group unravels after a bloody murder weighs too heavily upon their conscience.

Trailer For THE MYTH OF THE AMERICAN SLEEPOVER

The Myth of the American Sleepover - Official Trailer from Strike Anywhere on Vimeo.

source QuietEarth
This another movie been shown at the SXSW Festival, its the thing I love about these festivals its a chance to think outside the box, that been hollywood cinema and actually whatch some of the movies from the independant or even international movie scene. There is so many diverse great movies, shorts documentaries been shown and if you are having withdrawl symtoms of not watchinging a mainstream movie dont despair they always a few in the festival as well.
As I said the trailer above is for the movie THE MYTH ABOUT THE AMERICAN SLEEPOVER a movie created and written by David Robert Mitchell which is an coming of age movie and it is a hard time to be a tee. This movie follows 4 teens looking for love, adventure and that iconic teenage experience in the last night of summer, and even though Im not American I agree with QuietEarth its full of Kitcshy cliques of heading to a town centre and a centre all the teens want to be at. The confusing thing is, is this a drama or is it a real life drama? If they made a film on the teens in my town it wont be the town centre by the local police station or nearby shop selling alcohol and to be in the movie your fashion style has to be deerstalker hat, football shirt, shellsuit/tracksuit, white sports socks and dont forget the woolen gloves even in the summer.

Full Trailer For Earthling

A while back we gave you the teaser trailer for Earthling a indie sci-fi written and directed by Clay Liford, now the movie is getting shown at next weeks SXSW festival in Austin Texas and just learnt from Quiet Earth the movie will also get played at Sci-Fi London festival  as well!!!
Below is full trailer and there is a few known faces in this flick like Peter Greene(Pulp Fiction) Rebecca Spence (Public Enemies) and William Katt (Carrie). The story about the  aftermath of  an  mysterious atmospheric event, a small group of people wake up to realize that their entire lives have been a lie. They are in fact aliens disguised as humans. Now they have to make a choice. Live amongst men, or try to find a way back home. In the trailer you do get a little more of the story learning that a small spikey pod is causing an alarm with the 'earthlings' suggests this pod is the cause of all the trouble and it is good that a sci-fi movie can be made without the need to have obscure looking aliens but a more humanist look to it.

SXSW Festival is fast creeping up and still everyday we get new trailers for the movies playing at the fest in Austin, Texas. Today we have the indie drama LEBANON PA, a movie written and directed by Ben Hickernell a well crafted little movie about a man called Will who heads to Lebanon PA from Philadelphia to bury his recently deceased father. During his time there he forms a unlikely friendship with his 17 year old pregent cousin CJ, as will becomes more interested in CJ married teacher  and confronts her conflicted father both find it a struggle to find their own paths in life.
In this movie it show how divided America really is through the eyes of one family and if theres any way they can sweep away there differences and meet in the middle. What I love is the name of the movie Lebanon and with the festival been played in the deep south of  USA Im sure the movie title will go down well in some quarters!!!

Exclusive Clip of Vahalla Rising (Mads Mikkleson)

No comments:

Recieved this exclusive clip from Vertigo Films over the weekend for Valhalla Rising  directed (and co -wrote) by Nicolas Winding Refn. who also directed the Pusher Trilogy and Bronson. Movie stars Mads Mikkleson (Casino Royale, Pusher Trilogy and soon Clash of The Titans remake) as the movies leading warrior  One-eye. Both men have worked together in previous movies and every director has their favourite lead as does every actor has their favourite directors.
Even though we have seen Soloman Kane we havent really seen a action packed epic actually based on people of our previous history and in this case vikings. A story which isn't covered up with over the top CGI but what you get is honest story telling with does have the brutality mixed in with (real) stunning backdrops.

Vahalla Rising did the rounds at many of the 2009 film festivals including London returning with positive reviews. The movie will be released in UK & Ireland by Vertigo and no release date yet confirmed but the movie will be released in Denmark this coming Friday, 5th March.

imdb synopsis:
1000 AD, for years, One Eye, a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the Norse chieftain Barde. Aided by Are, a boy slave, One Eye slays his captor and together he and Are escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight, One Eye and Are board a Viking vessel, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that clears only as the crew sights an unknown land. As the new world reveals its secrets and the Vikings confront their terrible and bloody fate, One Eye discovers his true self

Blog Update

No comments:
hello all and once again many thanks for all your support for my blog. I know there's been certain things taking a little longer than expected like the menu and the blogs other pages, I wont bore you with excuses but apoligies for taking forever. I thought I would let you know that today and this week I will be working on those pages and hopefully this time next week they will look a lot better than before. I am also considering rechanging the look of this blog again maybe in line with the other pages as I had add the pages in manually usung outside free webhost, but ill let you know later. So check out the other pages other the next week or two.
Well today is the end of the glasgow international film festival with the world premiere of LEGACY a indie thriller starring The Wire star Idris Elba as an ex black-ops soldier returning home full of redemption of a botched up operation in eastern europe and finds himself stuck in a rundown Brooklyn motel. Funnily enough the movie was mostly shot in Glasgow, Scotland simply due to the movies studio been based there, I was unable to get a press pass for the premiere, though ill try see if I can get a screener and review it. The movie was directed by nigerian born Londoner Thomas Ikimi and I this years festival has been an overall sucess. In its 6th year its sales figures have went from 6,000 to over 25,000 which is absolutely fantastic as this festival is not regarded as one of the big ones though give it a few years and the festival will breathing dow the neck of its neighbouring city (only 36 miles away) Edinburgh which is regarded as a big festival.
Overall ive been able to see some great movies on the screen or through screeners and i've been able to see scottish premiere of Gentleman's bronco, heartless also Until The Light Takes us, Kakera, Evagellion 1.0, Frozen (european premiere) Whip it, Bad Lieutenant which will be reviewed over the next week or two and you'll the reviews here and on the peoplesmovies blog.
