Sometimes in Festivals the Youth movie section can sometimes be more appealing than the main part of the festival and Berlin Festival was no different. Like the Glasgow festival Japanese movies has played a big part of Berlin's festival and one of those movies is by Koji Masunari and his latest project a family sci fi adventure animation WELCOME TO THE SPACE SHOW.
Read the synopsis and then enjoy the trailer which has english subtitles.

synopsis:A tiny mountain village in a remote woodland region. Five primary school kids have come together in this idyllic spot in order to spend their summer holidays at a camp. At first the children enjoy carefree days amidst unspoiled nature far away from adult supervision. But their life changes dramatically when they come across what they believe to be a small dog, badly in need of help. The creature - known as Pochi - turns out not to be a dog at all but an alien on an important mission. It seems there is a mysterious substance on earth that is coveted throughout the universe. Pochi had almost found it but was so badly injured during a fight that he had to give up his search. Thanks to the children's help, the alien survives - and decides to reward them generously. "Where would you most like to travel?" is the question Pochi puts to his rescuers. Their answer is prompt, if vague: "As far as possible!" Pochi suggests they try the moon first of all, and so, the alien whisks away the kids to the satellite next door. This marks the beginning of an absolutely amazing adventure. During the course of their travels they discover that the substance coveted throughout the universe is in fact also integral to Japanese cuisine - and it just so happens that one of the kids has some of this mysterious substance in his pocket. - taken from Twitchfilm post

Above is the new trailer from Judd Tilyard's new cyberpunk flick FRAME 137. This sci-fi movie is based on a story created by The Crow creator James O'Barr  (with his permission) which was first seen in the comic book Dark Horse Presents.

This movie has been created in a way you dont see much of these days in cinemascope (or a Lomo Anamorphic Lens camera) and amazingly made over just a weekend. The movies main protaginist is 10 year old Sam Ransom  playing Johnny Z  and amazingly did all his own stunts including the wire work & fire breathing. This is only a minute long teaser and you can see the many inspirations this movie has been inspired by: The Matrix, Equillibrium and I even see elements of the classic Anime Trigun as well.

As for release info, there's nothing yet, there's not even word it will be released  which means it'll more likely to travel around this years festivals.

Here at Cinehouse HQ we do love our movie/animated shorts of all genres but I know its silly but when a short is as 11 minutes long do you need to make an trailer? why not just post the whole short? I appreciate movies of all lengths have to be promoted so whats this one all about?

Mongrels Creed is set in the future in the dark depths of an rehab centre and the hero of the short Gravel must approach his superior officer Mr Cod and persuade him not to let his friend from been reprogrammed. The movie has been directed by Tom Noakes with the backing of the Australian Film/Televison and Radio School and we have to agree this ones a topper!!!!
