If you love Hong Kong action/thrillers like the way they used to do it when Woo ruled the waves well Dante Lam is your man! Trailer for Derek Kwok's FROZEN (Wai nei chung ching )

No comments:
Source FILMSMASH
First time I noticed the title of this movie I was expecting it was a Chinese remake of the Adam Green movie of the same which comes out in uk on October 1st, but this is completely different.
Derek Kwok's Frozen or Wai Nei Chung Ching is about a woman Cyronically frozen in 1989 to waken up 20 years later to find out her then newborn is older than her! We've seen many movies likes of Freaky Friday where kids swap bodies with children, but I cant recall a movie like this where the kid is now older than the parent though has been the odd time travelling classic movie such as Back To The Future where Marty meets his mum.
The movie does sound very interesting and does have the charm you expect from a chinese/hong kong movie intwined with some fantasy, I didnt expect to see those big hairstyles again (I was 14 in 1989 remember them well!!!)
Frozen is out in Hong Kong on September 2nd, trailer after the break....

source Filmsmash
With on off fiasco with Terry Gilliam's proposed version of Don Quixote it's seems filmmaker Ah Gan has got there before him. This isnt a full on adaptation but a fantasy adaption of the classic Spanish book but based on the legendary Chang'an dynasty warrior.
I am really interested in seeing this but only in 2D NOT 3d (if you follow my Peoples Movies blog Im not a fan of 3D movies) The movie stars Gao Tuo, Karena Lam, Liu Ye and Wang Gang with no offical release date yet confirmed yet.

Trailer for John Woo's REIGN OF ASSASSINS

No comments:

Source Twitch
Since John Woo decided to move back into the Hong Kong/Chinese movie market I feel a sense of confidence, happiness, a man back on form. Woo'smovie seem to have moved back up to the top where they belong and he is a fine example that Hollywood isn't the dreammaker many filmakers & actors see Hollywood as. Its dogeatdog world and if you hack it on the first attempt and keep the momentum going dreams turn to knightmares.
Bought Red Cliff last week on DVD and if you give me anything set in China when chivlary is in order with John Woo behind the lens Im sold! Here is the first trailer for REIGN OF ASSISSANS which Woo co-directs and produce, proper old school here! The movie is currently in pos-tproduction but what we do know is that Weinstein Company have the American rights so we can expect a release in UK too! Yesss!!!

Movie stars Michelle Yeoh, Woo-sung Jung, Barbie Hsu, Kelly Lin and Shawn Yue, trailer after the break...

First Look At The Pang Brother's CHILD'S EYE (3D)

No comments:

source Filmsmash
The Pang Brothers are at it again with there third movie of their Eye Franchise with THE CHILD'S EYE (3D).
The brother's had a hit with the first movie and it was that sucessfull we even had a Hollywood remake with Jessica Alba in the lead role but for movie 2 they couldn't keep the momentum going. You could say they are asian horror's version of M.Night Shyalamalan great first movie and very hit or miss with the projects the coame after it it (solo as well as together).
14th October the third installment will be out and could this be the movie to push them back up the ladder or will it be their The Last Airbender? Apart from having a poor sequel the movie has something  it against it already....Its in 3D!!!

The Child’s Eye 3D stars Elanne Kwong, Rainie Yang, Shawn Yue, and Ka Tung Lam.

Stranded in Thailand by the political uprising and airport closure, Rainie and her friends were unable to return home. Unwillingly, they stayed in an aged and shabby hotel.
Among them was Rainie’s almost-breakup boyfriend, Lok; Ling and her brother Rex, and Ciwi and her beloved boyfriend, Hei.
From the moment they checked in the hotel… they came across three weird children and a puppy, and strange things happened once after another………

source Filmsmash
Below is the offical trailer for CURSE OF THE DESERTED which is directed by Chi leung Lo and stars Shawn Yue and Kitty Zhang with the movie been  released on  August 13th. The trailer comes with English subtitles.

Trailer after the break....

Young writer Guo (Shawn Yue) wrote about a titular curse in his book, “The Deserted Village”. It began 500 years ago in the Ming Dynasty, when one of the villagers died of terminal illness. The widow Yanzi vowed to stay with her husband forever but when the man suddenly returned to life.
The horrified neighbours believed that he was a monster. They burned him to death and torched his mansion. The devastated Yanzi upheld her vow and threw herself into the fire. Since then, the village was cursed and the mansion subsequent inhabitant dies mysteriously.
Some say only couples who share true love can survive in that village. Those who are unfaithful will come to their demise. To the world, the book was pure fiction. Only Guo and his ex-girlfriend Zhi (Kitty Zhang) had lived through the horror to know its existence.
When four college students decided to explore the village themselves, the trip led them to an ancient well in Yanzi’s mansion, where the curse was unleashed once again.

3 New Spoof Trailers for Mr&Mrs Incredible

No comments:
source 24FramesPerSecond
If this movie was a cheeseburger the amount of cheese on it would rocket you cholesteral leve; through the roof, but hey we do love what were seeing from MR & MRS INCREDIBLE.This was one of the reason I love cinema, something a little different, cheesy but fun looking and sadly we dont get enough of that in mainstream hollywood these days. The movie stars  Louis Koo and Sandra Ng as our heros and the movie did play out at Cannes and did get a great reaction and you can see why in the 3 teaser trailers after the break. The teasers are called "The Moon-landing story", "The Superman story" and "The Golf story" each with there mini story to tell about the movies protaganists.
This is over the topstuff here, though funny full of action as well been created on a big budget, will it be a big sucess, hard to tell as asian markets are alot different than western ones, but dont be surprised if this is a sucess itll be ripped off by Hollywood in a cheap looking remake.

New Trailer For Dante Lam's THE STOOL PIGEON

source Filmsmash
Dante Lam's THE STOOL PIGEON (Sin Yan) will be out in Hong Kong on August 26th and it has a new trailer now in English subtitles. Lam has been seen by many as the new John Woo as in capturing Woo's early Hong Kong gangster/action movies such as Hard Boiled (Chow Yun Fat), a spirit that Hong Kong has missed for a few years and hopefully on its way back. The movie stars Nicholas Tse ,Nick Cheung, Lunmei Kwai and Yu Li.
Senior Inspector Don Lee relies heavily on the information provided by stool pigeons in his job.Barbarian is a painstakingly meticulous armed robber. Don needs an informant to infiltrate his gang. He recruits street-racer Guy. Guy provides information on Barbarian’s next job, but Don is unable to effectively act on them until the final moment. About 2 weeks ago I posted the trailer for Benny Chan's maniac mutant american comicbook inspired movie City Under Siege now it has its main trailer which you can watch above and will be out on August 12th. It looks even more cheesier but hey comicbook inspired movies are the populas in movies worldwide so we cant argue but its from Hong Kong so the martial arts will be good though.

Teaser & Trailer For Hong Kong Horror Flick MIDNIGHT HEART

I Had a really busy day working on The Peoples Movies blog and it was going on 1 am  so I decided not to post this but roll on a few hours we now have not just trailer one but trailer 2 for Jiabei Zhang's MIDNIGHT HEART/PULSE.

What's good and unique about this movie, it has a twist....its completely silent giving the whole movie a real errie feeling which is great as it's a horror! but roll on trailer two we have sound and its alot darker and twisted...better

Is this Hong Kong gone J-Horror? well slightly true as the production company have hired some japanese expertise. Don't know much on the movie apart from it's based in a hospital nd even the movies stars are not saying a word either which could suggest this is something bigger been created. It does have a few big names involved with Simon Yam and Frances Ng is it a major viral? Well whatever it is Midnight Heart is out in Hong Kong in September, trailers after the break....

Trailer For Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phamtom Flame Trailer

No comments:
source Filmsmash

When I first spotted this trailer before I even looked at the link or what the movie was about it sounded like it was a scooby doo type movie and how wrong I was. The movies title ( Di Renjie - original name)  Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phamtom Flame is enough to attract any one to find out more!.
D-project (its short name) stars Andy Lau (Future X-Cops, The Warlords) and Bingbing Li (the forbidden Kindom) in a Action crime thriller  as well been set not in modern day but 690AD. As if said many times on this blog the Chinese/Hong Kong know how to create period movies is spectacular fashion and this one is big!
This time last year I was in Guangzhou, China and everywhere you went as well on TV Andy Lau was everywhere on Pepsi & Shampoo billboards, tv ads he is big money ! He is actully remaking What Woman Want the Mel Gibson movie it seems to be a deal that some of the hollywood  movies to be remade into asian movies (theres a japanese version of Ghost coming too), well think about it Hollywood is always looking at the foreign movie market for new movies usually destroying them, so why cant it be reversed? dont blame them

O.T.T Mutant Mayhem with Trailer to Benny Chan's CITY UNDER SEIGE

No comments:

source Wildgrounds
When I think of Hong Kong Movies I think of good old fashioned crime/gangster thrillers like HardBoiled (John Woo) but I would never think I would see Hollywood style big action flicks with mutants that look like there in joke sumo sponge suits or if you pull at their arms & legs they'll be a stretch Armstrong. Well Benny Chan has went old school back to the 1980's eploitation  style movie with his new 70million Yuan blockbuster CITY UNDER SIEGE.
This movie does look like something out of a Spiderman or X-Men comic book and I beleive they where Chan's inspiration for the movie which can be described as over the top mutant action flick. They dont want to rule the world these mutants they just want to rob a bank and scary the living crap out of Hong Kong city whilst they do it!
I have to say this looks cheesy but fun! starring Aaron Kwok, Wu Jing, Colin Chou and Shu Qi the movie is scheduled for release in Hong Kong/China on August 6th, trailer after the break...

Trailer For Chinese Period Comedy-drama The Dragon and Phoenix Inn

No comments:

Source FilmSmash
There's not anything I can say on this trailer but its for Chinese/ Hong Kong period comedy THE DRAGON & PHOENIX INN, which has Richie Ren and Barbie Hsu both big names in the chinese cinema. It does look like it has plenty of kong-fu action scenes, plenty of laughs and it does last nearly 5 minutes which isnt unusal for a chinese movie.
anyway no graphics so the trailer is there instead.

Teaser Trailer For Stephen Chow's CJ7: The Cartoon

I just recently got a few glimpses at CJ7 from my friend who likes to delve into the unusal movies from the world I have to say I liked it, was made funnier by the dodgy english voiced dubbing they use as well. What I watched of the movie I have to say im not surpised a cartoon version has been made probably some of the live action version humour will be appreciated better.
Below is the teaser trailer for the animated version which will be out next month in China on July 6th, expect more whackiness/slapstick and if you loved shaolin Soccer there's even a little homage thrown in as well!!!

Theatrical Trailer for Ho-Cheung Pang's Wai dor lei ah yut ho (Dream Home)

No comments:
source TwitchFilm
A Few months back I posted the teaser trailer for this movie Wai dor lei ah yut ho (Dream Home). The movie was in post-production period but that long road is nearly over as the movie will be out next month in Hong Kong (13th May), so when the release date comes out a full theatrical trailer usually follows and its below.
This is an slasher movie, so you'll be expecting a little bit of blood and guts here, well no. Possibly something to do with the laws in Hong Kong but more likely to tease the viewer to check the movie, like the recent Expandable trailer that gave away the actual Willis &Scwharznegger cameo i'm sure they dont want to spoil things here.

Above is the trailer for Kenneth Bi's upcoming movie GIRL$, a movie about 4 teenage girls who get involved in prostitution for various reasons and all experiencing different outcomes. The movie tackle a subject Bi is not reknowned for working on but looking at the trailer it does look a style we expect from the director, a well made crafted movie.
The movie is to be premiered at Hong Kong Film Festival and movie is also the first serious role for Jackie Chan's son Jaycee.
