Teaser For Live Action GANTZ (part 1)

Back in the 1990's I knew alot of Anime/Manga that was out mostly than's to Helen McCarthy's Anime UK magazine it was essential reading for all British/Irish anime/manga fans. But like many things the rightwing media of Uk destroys anything popular by sentsationalising it with some negative press articles (they caught onto the hentai - porn anime and made people think all anime is pornographic   as well violent) and the fans drew away alltogether or underground.  I've tried my best to keep up with whats going on maybe borrowing friends anime or watching it online. Japan is very proud of there animation & comicbook industry if your aged 1 or 99 theres always something for you a respected medium so watching popular titles become animation then live action cinema versions is not unusal so we have the latest GANTZ.
The great thing about this anime its known worldwide and even though many manga/anime's do become live action some can be a bit poorly made more made for tv than cinema but Gantz does look like one of the better ones. I have heard of it but have no clue what the story is all about but if you enjoy young guys jumping around in leather pvc suits and a mysterious black ball check this out, i've tried to get a english synopsis but no luck.

Below is the trailer for Jang Cheol-so debut directoral movie BEDEVILLED. The movies main genre is Horror/slasher but throw in elements of comedy, vengance and looking at the trailer it has been well made as many movies in similar genres can be poorly made and just becomes another bog standard slasher flick.
The movie doesn't have a release date yet but if your from South Korea expect it before the end of this year possibly late summer/autumn.

First Teaser Trailer For Tran Anh-Hung's NORWEGIAN WOOD

source Wildgrounds
It took me a few minutes to click this movie is an adaptation of one of my favourite author's Haruki Murakami NORWEGIAN WOOD. Movieis directed by Vietnamese director Anh Hung Tran and it will be the author's first book to be transfered to the big screen so alot of expectations will be very high. The trailer doesn't show much (it is only a teaser) to have any thoughts on it but it does look good so far. As this book is inspired by an Beatles song music will probably play a big part of this movie and ive seen a few posts that say this movies score maybe be by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood so interest is even greater now!!!
Norwegian Wood stars Rinko Kikuchi,Ken'ichi Matsuyama and Kiko Mizuhara with the movie due for release in Japan on December 11th, trailer after the break...

French Trailer For Julian SchnabeL's MIRAL

Below is the French trailer for Julian SchnabeL's movie MIRAL starring Slumdog Millionaire's Frieda Pinto, Willem Dafoe,Vanessa Redgrave and Alexander Siddig.
Hiam Abbass plays a Palestinan woman who sets ( real) orphanage in Jerusalem and Pinto plays Miral a girl who grows up in the orphanage becoming a activist when she is assigned to teach at a refugee camp and sees the whole outcome that Palestinians & Israelis dont get on well with each other.
The movie will annoy a few folks especially in States as politically could be seen as left wing and the shocking thing is The Weinstein Company are releasing this movie in USA?! The messege of this film will be alot more forceful than Schnabels last movie Diving Bell and the Butterfly which is a big hit with many critics.
Miral is due out late 2010.

It's not just the American's who like to bring Comicbooks to the big screen, the Japanese do to and have probably doing it a lot longer than there Yankee cousins. The trailer below is an fine example of Manga/Anime adaptation of Gekijô-ban: Kaidan resutoran:THRILLER RESTAURANT.
The movie is based on thepopular manga book series that ran from 1996-2007 based on a Kaiden restaurant Obake Garcon (Ghost Waiter) tells horror stories to children. The books have just recently been created into a anime which aired last october and this movie actually is a animtion/live action hybrid with the first 13 minutes all been in animation before converting to live action.
This is basically one for the young teens/kids and its strange that the movies director Masayuki Ochiai is more known for his adult horrors like Parasite Eve, Infection and Hollywood remake of the Thai horror Shutter.

Thriller Restaurant will be in Japanese cinemas from August 21st, trailer after the break...

English Version Trailer For Anime REDLINE

Back in the early 1990's I was lucky in the UK to have a chance tp follow Manga& Anime when you could go into shops buy various magazines, watch anime on tv that wasn't Pokemon or Beyblade, new videos (it was still video back in those days)out everyweek and you had unlimited resources to find out whats going on. Nowdays thanks to antianime sentsationalised reporting by the rightwing media of UK the fanbase has went more underground or struggles to find where to get new movies/comics, its sad because theres more to anime than just Naruto. I still love to delve in and see what I'm missing but finance prevents me going further because when you have great anime like REDLINE you want to be involved more.
Redline is the creation of Takeshi Koike (Ninja Scroll) and Katsuhito Ishii (Taste of Tea) for Madhouse Studios and the movie will be getting a release in North America soon as for UK & Ireland thats a good question.
It's sad in today society especially in UK & Ireland watching animation or reading manga and your over 25 the media regards you as mentally unstable, if only they understood animation and comic books are for all ages!
