Trailer For Stellan Skarsgaard in KINGS OF DEVIL ISLAND (Kongen av Bastøy)

There's a few actors out there in movieland who may have a few years ago appeared in one or two good movies then disappeared of the face of the earth and suddenly there appearing in every tom dick or harry, Stellan Skarsgaard is one of those actors however he does choose better 'qaulity parts'.
For those who just see Hollywood many only see Skarsgaard as bootsrap bill from Pirates of Carribean, One of the three dads in Mama Mia or the Vactian City chief security officer in Angels & Demons, but lookfurther affield we are talking about one of Scandanavia's biggest movie stars and below is the trailer for his next movie KINGS OF DEVIL ISLAND (Kongen av Bastøy).
The movie is set in a Oslo Young persons prison during the early 20th century, though he maybe the big name its the youngsters playing the prisoners who are the real stsars her with Benjamin Helstad one of the noteable names delivering what looks like a positive review with this movie only been his second feature. Kristoffer Joner another big name in Norway also appears.

KINGS OF THE DEVIL ISLAND will be out on December 17th in scandanavia, synopsis and trailer after the break....

Low Budget Killer in Norway's DARK SOULS

No comments:
source Twitch
Online, in magazines we get to see what mainstream movies have to offer or at least think they have to offer, one thing at my blog I like to cover trailers for movies from many continents & countires including Scandinavia. I do my best to try cover all levels of film making but I will say alot of low budget flicks dont seem to get alot of airtime and Scandinavians do have there fare share of low budget movies including this one DARK SOULS( Mørke sjeler).
Alot of low budget movies get made of all genres and they get dished out ten a penny majority just plain crap unwatchable but there's always the odd one that stands out worthy of mention and  Mathieu Peteul and César Ducasse's Dark Souls is one of them.
The movie is doing the tour of the film festivals worldwide picking up a few awards on its tour and from the trailer below you can see the movie is very gritty and is not scared of throwning in a bit of brutality. Black and Decker should get this as a promo ad for their drills as there plenty on view but are the victims are they zombies? I dont think so a little bit like the critters from that dodgy 1980's flick with Patrik Stewart Lifeforce crossed with the affect from 28 Days Later, mmm? Trailer after the break...

A First Look at Norweigan Slasher COLD PREY 3 (Fritt Vilt III)

Norway is'nt a country renowned for its slasher movies so when Fritt Vilt (Cold Prey) came out in 2006 it was a risky move as no one knew what the reaction would be. Thankfully for them it was a big hit and its 2010 and we have the third movie (Fritt Vilt 3) and our first look at the movie below.
I found the movie's website by accident yesterday but I was unable to get any form of link so I could post the trailers here but thankfully for courtesy of Twitch the main trailer I posted below. There was also a teaser (official site) which was smartly created in a summary of what happened in movie 1+2 in reverse order as as what happens in the new movie actually is before them (movie 1+2).
Yes Cold Prey does have a few generic parts in it the College kids been hunted by a mysterious madman in a remote part of Norway but the whole production is very well done with the whole  look very intense, fast moving .
check out the trailer after the break....

INSOMNIA Director Returns with Heist Movie NOKAS

No comments:

Source Gordon The Whale
About 8 years ago a little unknown Christopher Nolan remade Insomnia which was based on a 1997 Norweigan movie also called Insomnia by a director called Erik Skjoldbjærg (who did get acknowledge in the remake).Skjoldbaerg hasn't dont much on the big screen for about 5 years and he return with an impressive looking Heist movie called NOKAS
The movie is very and violent but at the same time you get the feeling that the criminals in mind are slightly glorified in the way the criminals in Ocean's franchise, the inspiration is varied especially a big influence from Japanese movies like Rashomon (which is on a limited cinematical release in UK at the moment). This just looks good and would love to review this, highly unlikely I'll see it, but if you do send us a review and share it with us here at Cinehouse!
Nokas will be out October 1st in Norway, trailer after the break...

The Way Of The Fjord! Norwegian Ninja Theatrical Trailer is Upon Us!!!

I'll admit I never really took this movie seriously, the cheesiness level was massive but I said to myself I'm forgeting one of the reasons I started this blog: to cover the weird, funny and wonderfull movies out there and Norwegian Ninja is one of them.
This movie comes from the producer of the excellent zombie nazi movie Dead Snow so this should have been my que to check the movie but here I am! These guys have a sense of humour that gives you the impression they dont care there just having fun and good on them, there's just too many serious people out there.
If you love your old school martial arts (ala 1970-80's) flicks mixed in with a barrell load of cold war frolics, 'amazing' special effects and enough cheese to use to make cheese & toast for the entire universe check out this movie.
I dont know if this will get a theatrical release in UK but the worldwide coverage this movie has got hopefully it will get some sort of limited releaseif not it'll be straight to dvd.

The movie is due out in its Native Norway on August 13th, check out the trailer after the break....

Stellan Skarsgård stars as a "Gentle Man" in En ganske snill mann

No comments:
source QuietEarth
Alot of people may not recognise who Stellan Skarsgard is, some of you may recognise him but may not remember what he was in. You may know him as Bootstrap Bill from Pirates of Carribbean (Wil Turner aka Orlando Bloom's screen dad) or even again as Bill from Mama Mia... aagh that guy!!!

Well he is an established actor and does alot of movies in Hollywood as well as his native tongue (well scandanavian) and here's the first trailer for his latest En ganske snill mann (A Somewhat Gentle man). The movie sees him play Ulrik a man whose just out of jail after doing 12 years for killing his wife and now out he considers either trying to reconcile with his family or go after the people who stitched him up.

Reading the synopsis from IMDB he's not a gentle man and this comedy Ill expect to have a bit of violence in it as it could be either a revenge movie or simply a reconcilation flick which could bring a few metal wounds.

The movie has been directed by
Hans Petter Moland who has been regarded as the "Ridley Scott of Norway"  though not as prolific and definitely still unknown on the international circuit though with Stellan Skarsgard (soon to be father of Thor in Kenneth Brannagh's THOR) in the movie that could all change.
Movie out in Norway on March 19th
