Here's a nice weepie for Saturday night and its taken a while for this trailer to be released according to the source, this is the trailer for Mamoru Hoshi's Boku to Tsuma no 1778 no Monogatari (1,778 Stories of Me and My Wife).
The movie is based on Japanese Sacience Fiction writer Taku Mayumura whose wife sadly died of colon cancer back in 2002 and he was told by a doctor laughing would help with the imune system. Using his talent to write Mayumura wrote at least 3 pages of stories a day and read them to his fatally ill wife. It was first thought she would only live 1 year but she ended up living 5 more years and the writer ended up writing 1,778 stories in total during her ill-health.
According to imdb this movie is set for a January 25th 2011 release in Japan, the movie stars Yûko Takeuchi & Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, trailer after the break....

Studio Ghibli To Announce New Project Mid- December
source Collider
Koji Hoshino the president of the legendary Japanese Animation company Studio Ghibli confirmed at the International Rome Film Festival that they'll announce there new project in New York on December 15th.
This is fantastic news as rumours that the iconic company may have to cut the studio staff down to a minimum which would mean the end of great animation but now the rumours would start on what that next project could be. One of those rumours is that possible movie could be a sequel to Porco Rosso or the other talk was it could be a project by the godfather of Ghibli Hayao Miyazaki.
1992 was when Porco Rosso was released and the possible project could be named Porco Rosso: The Last Sortie with the movies protaginist flyinging into the Spanish Civil war and if this is to be the project it would be the studio's first ever sequel. As Ghibli was my introduction into the fantastic world of Japanese Anime I have followed the studio religiously and like the source of this post I agree that this may not be the new project they'll annouce next month as Hoshino didnt seem to be very serious about the project as well this new one even going into development!
“If next two films succeed and Suzuki-san lets me make it (Porco)…It cannot be helped because it’s a hobby of the old man, I’m happy. It’s my hobby.” - as quoted in Nausicaa.net, and looking at that quote it looks like that was referring to The Borrower Arrietty and Isao Takahata's Tale of The Bamboo Cutter which is been directed at this moment. After Ponyo Miyazaki did say he planned to release another 2 movies and though Porco Rosso was a good movie it isnt one of the studio's best movies and hopefully Porco Rosso 2 wont be his next project but a “tragic story about a boy” which the vetren animator has always desired to make.

Concept Trailer For Dan Gaud's Zombie Flick DAYLIGHT
DAYLIGHT - TEASER from Ayz Waraich on Vimeo.
Source QuietEarth
I love my zombie Flicks, I love them tht much I watched the premiere of Walking Dead tonite on British television and this little beauty caught my eye. The concept trailer is for Dan Guads indie Zombie thriller DAYLIGHT which focuses on one mans search for his missing wife during in a dying world full of nasty criteons...zombies!
The visual style really caught my eye, very gritty giving you a feel that this world is not a squeeky clean world, survival of the fittest. The whole look of the movie I get that 28 Days Later feel rather than dawn of the dead and the Godspeed! My Black Emperor style music really helps the movie too.
Teaser Trailer For HIGH KICK GIRL (Hai kikku gâru!)
sourceNipponCinema
I got a little confused on exactly when this was made and speaking to a few friends who follow Japanese Movies/Culture passionitely they told this wasn't out yet and there right. HIGH KICK GIRL (Hai kikku gâru!) stars Rina Takeda and as far as if this is a reboot or sequel, its hard to telll as there little info on the movie apart from “A girl’s revenge, born in Yokohama”, and the story revolves around a black belt which once belonged to a legendary karate master named Soujirou Kurenai and has since been passed down through generations of his family. 200 years later, a battle over the belt begins in Yokohama.
One thing we can see, she maybe a schoolgirl but you dont mess around with her or she'll kick your ass!!! Honestly theres not much I can say on this movie apart from its release in Japan will be February 25th 2011 and you can check out out a teaser trailer from the movies new distributor after the break....

Check Out The Trailer For Sci-Fi Flick COCKPIT
source QuietEarth
"Listen to Me earthlings I am your master I control you, I will destroy you!!!" You might be saying what the frig is he going on about has he lost it?!! Answer is no!COCKPIT is from film festival circuit winner Jesse Griffiths and is based on the short movie currently working its way around Festival circuit Cockpit:The Rule Of Engagement and there's hope this will become a feature lengther.
My first impressions it looks like CGC fested live action computer game, just feel the fx have that jekyll and Hyde feel: sometimes fantastic other times really cheesy, but it does have its potential, check the trailer out after the break....

Trailer For Stellan Skarsgaard in KINGS OF DEVIL ISLAND (Kongen av Bastøy)
source Twitch
There's a few actors out there in movieland who may have a few years ago appeared in one or two good movies then disappeared of the face of the earth and suddenly there appearing in every tom dick or harry, Stellan Skarsgaard is one of those actors however he does choose better 'qaulity parts'.
For those who just see Hollywood many only see Skarsgaard as bootsrap bill from Pirates of Carribean, One of the three dads in Mama Mia or the Vactian City chief security officer in Angels & Demons, but lookfurther affield we are talking about one of Scandanavia's biggest movie stars and below is the trailer for his next movie KINGS OF DEVIL ISLAND (Kongen av Bastøy).
The movie is set in a Oslo Young persons prison during the early 20th century, though he maybe the big name its the youngsters playing the prisoners who are the real stsars her with Benjamin Helstad one of the noteable names delivering what looks like a positive review with this movie only been his second feature. Kristoffer Joner another big name in Norway also appears.
KINGS OF THE DEVIL ISLAND will be out on December 17th in scandanavia, synopsis and trailer after the break....

UK Trailer For MAMMOTH starring Michelle Williams & Gael Garcia Bernal
Soda Pictures have sent me the new trailer for MAMMOTH starring Michelle Williams and Gael Garcia Bernal which is getting a limited release in UK & Ireland next Friday 5th November.
Dysfunctional families seem to be one of the big movie topic especially in the independant/world cinema with Kids Are All Alright ( lesbien couple with kids trying to contact their biological father) and early next year Animal Kingdom about the youngest of a known criminal family who doesnt want to be in the 'family business' and is pressurised to blag on his family to the cops.In Mammoth Leo(Bernal) is an owner of a booming gaming website and Ellen a emergency nurse and they have a 8 year old daughter who seems to spend more time with the Fillipino maid (Marife Necesito) who works long and hard to send money home for her 2 sons. Leo heads to Thailand for business and what happens there sparks of a string of events that lead to consquences to all of them.
Mammoth is directed by acclaimed Swedish director Lucas Moodysson ( A Hole In My Heart, Container). Apoligies to Soda Pictures for taking so long to post this. You can catch Mammoth at Odeon Convent Garden London and Screen Dublin
