U.K Trailer for Phillip Ridley's HEARTLESS
source The Peoples Movies
Below is the first U.K trailer for HEARTLESS which has just been posted online Thanks to Lionsgate.
During 2009 especially summer period we heard alot about this Phillip Ridley movie especially from the director and the films main stars Jim Sturgess and Noel Clarke but never seen a trailer until now.
The movie is about a young man called Jamie who is born with a large heart shaped birthmark on his face. The birthmark effects Jamie pyshically as well as mentally and would do anything to get rid of it.He discovers that the gangs in the east part of London (where the film is based), many of its members are actually realife demons and he is tricked into doing a deal with the devil who grants him his wish and removes the marks. As usual do a deal with the devil there will always be setbacks.
As well Jim Sturgess & Noel Clarke, Eddie Marsan, Timothy Spall and Clémence Poésy also star. Heartless is going to get a very limited cinema release in U.K on May 21st for 3 days when on 24th it will be available on DVD. If you happen to be in Glasgow around 19th February you can catch it at the citys Film Festival (click here for deatils).
Its sad certain movies dont get the exposure they deserve with a decent run in the cinemas and only thanks to First Showing who were able to get the code that we can watch the trailer below as YAHOO UK dont seem to be bothered much about it.
Trailer for Irish post apocalyptic movie DITCHING
source QuietEarth
Below is the trailer for Northern Irish Arthouse drama called DITCHING. The movie is set in a post apocalyptic Northern Ireland where the Ulster is a dangerous fuedal and depopulated land, full of decaying towns with primative techonolgy. The people are confused and have also forgotten there troubled pasts and improvise ceremovies and games but still give no comfort to the world around them that makes them feel threatened but have no idea what awaits them at the end of the journey.
The movie was directed by an art collective from Belfast called Factotum and was their first venture into film making. Wasnt a high budget affair but still it is an noble first attempt and one Northern ireland 's independant cinema would be proud of.

Space Cadet time for ZONAD
source QuietEarth
Greeting Earthlings I am Zonad and here is my trailer. Zonad is a comedy from Ireland from John Carney who also co wrote it with his Brother Keiran. The movie follows a "alien" from a planet far far away in a glaxay far far away who visits a small Irish community of Ballymoran. His visit coincides with a recent sighting of a rare comet which makes the localfolks very gulliable to think he really is a alien rather than Liam a recent rehab escapee.
This does look funny but some Irish people maybe a little offended as it does tend to make the Irish look stupid. It is lighthearted and it has been created by an Irishman so no blame can go on non-irish people, though I can understand been scottish we can be prone to the odd pisstake from non-scottish people. They just like to "sterotype" and think all people from certain countries all talk, look the same, after a while you just have to take it on the chin!
Zonad will be out in Irish cinemas from March.
Trailer for Koji Wakamatsu's Kyatapirâ
source TwitchFilm
The Berlin Film Festival is only a few days away and amgry I never took the chance cover the festival via this blog (I may try). This is Europe's first major film festival of the year and usually one that many film distributors try tie up deals for there European audiences.
Below is the trailer for Kyatapirâ (Caterpillar) by Japanese director Koji Wakamatsu and the movie is based on a short story called "Imomushi" by author Rampo Edogawa. The story is about a soldier who returns home a mutli-amputee looking at TwitchFilm's post this movie does seem very faithfull to the original story. Director Wakamatsu has in the past been infamous for including his political stance in many of his movies, unfortunately I could n't say if true or what political stance he has, but looking at the trailer possibly very working class maybe even anti-war.

Tony Jaa's ONG BAK 3 teaser trailer
sources We Are Movie Geeks
I'd be honest and say I've never seen a Tony Jaa movie, so what Ong Bak 1 & 2 (which was just out a few months ago!) is about I couldnt tell you. What I do know about Tony he is one the leading actors in Martial Arts movies, he mixes styles creating his own unique brand.
Dont expect much plot or even talking to that matter, but thats not in a nasty way about the movie. The techinical ability of this guy is unbelievable and his fighting skills do all the talking. Watching the trailer below is like watching a music video but once again its not a criticism, its just Tony Jaa. As for what the plot is I dont actually know but if youve seen movie two it is a continuation of how things ended, as ive been told.
Movie three is out in Thailand this April, enjoy the trailer....

Offical Trailer for Greek period movie Mavro livadi (Black Field)
source QuietEarth
Below is the offical trailer for Greek Movie Mavro livadi (Black Field). This is a very bleak period drama, not from the typical period era we usually see from Greek inspired movies but from a later period of the Ottoman Empire period when the Turks ruled Greece (1654 period time).
The movie sees a wounded Turkish warrior arriving at all female monastery, heavily wounded who take him in. He gets nursed by a young nun who falls in love with the turkish soldier. The young nun was on a oath of silence and she has a secret she doesnt care sharing with the soldier that she is actually a he, a boy.
Right away this is an "Crying Game" type movie and you would true in saying that.. Visually this movie is very haunting but also visually beautiful. When the Crying game came out in the 1980's seeing a transgender romance would have been very contriversial but now, sexuality not really a big taboo now. Howver it would be curious to see the reaction in other countries to this movie, countries that may not be as opened.
Movie opens February 12th in Greece

Takeshi Kitano's OUTRAGE first teaser trailer
source QuietEarth
When it came to American-Italian gangster movies you always look up Al Pacino, Robert De Niro or even Joe Pesci to pull off some authenticity. In Japan there's only one actor right away who is good enough to either take on or be one himself thats Beat or to me and you Takeshi Kitano .
Old Beat's been in a bit of a hiatus recently and now he's finally back with his new movie AUTOREIJI (Outrage). Its business as usual for Beat as he takes on hisYakuza role as an subordinate role as Otomo running his crew with jobs that no other crew wants and with the police on his back you cant trust old Beat to get his house in order and maybe sort a few others as well.
The teaser trailer below doesnt show alot of action but it does suggest they'll be alot in this movie which is due to be out in Japan around June time.

Beautiful trailer for Tom Courtney's AN ARTIFICAL LIGHT
sourceQuietEarth
Here's a beautiful little trailer for the indie drama AN ARTIFICAL LIGHT created by Tim Courtney. I dont know much about it apart from the post Quietearth has done on it. From what I can gather its a relationship drama about a man who has recently split up from his girlfriend and he is trying to deal with the situation by taking a tripback down memory lane.
I do love the grey monetone look and backed with the good music it gives the movie a sweet but tranquil feel to it, if you think about it thats what the main character is trying to get some peace of mind so he can move on. As for any release information I have nothing but I believe the movie is doing the rounds at the Sundance festival in USA.
