No comments:
source 24fps
A new trailer for Yu Gu's "loosely based true Story" THE KIDNAP Has an new trailer which you can check out after the break. If your like me and believe  television in uk& ireland is dominated by pointless reality programmes including x-factor that pop culture has taken a dive so its  good to see a movie like THE KIDNAP. The reason why is down to the movies a gangland thriller with a cautionary tale about the horrific price you can pay for the quest for fame has just opened in China, and theres a new trailer to take a gander at. Kidnap centres on two young women named Nana and Lin who aspire to become famous singers and sign deals with the same record company. Nana becomes an overnight superstar after sleeping with her boss. But Lin's career faces a crisis when she refuses to do the same and is kidnapped and terrorised by gangsters.

The First Trailer for Kar Wai Wong's THE GRANDMASTERS (Yut doi jung si)

When you sometimes talk to so called 'movie fans' about world cinema I just love the reaction they give, its all the same, the yawning expression, not interested, why? "Its Boring " "why?, its in subtitles!". What they meant there lazy and will only watch it when its either dubbed or be destroyed by a mediocre hollywood remake. I admit for a few years I was like that but now ive opened my eyes and I see some wonderfull movies so diverse in styles, decents stories,etc...
Today I clocked the new teaser trailer for Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters and going by what we see in this teaser trailer its fuel for those foreign movie haters. Okay that maybe a tad niave as this movie isnt even out in its homeland China yet (February 2011 according to Imdb), so it is expected to be in its native language only. When a Wong Kar Wai movie is coming out you tend to take notice of it, but he seems to let himself down a bit with his heavy handing of lengthy  post productions and endless reliance on orchastrated set pieces. If youlove calligraphy you like this trailer as its all in traditional style Chinese writing but dont expect any any looks at what the movie has to offer as theres none at the moment.
Like the source of this post I agree dont be surprise if this appears at Cannes!

Teaser Trailer For Chen Daming's WHAT WOMAN WANT Remake starring Andy Lau

Mel Gibson may not be the man of the moment due to his much publicised private life but his old movies attracting a lot of attention and one has been remade in asia. You maybe looking at his movie cv thinking it must be Lethal Weapon, Braveheart, Patriot or even Signs, nope! His foray into romcom in 2000 with Helen Hunt with WHAT WOMAN WANT!!!
Yes folks yes Mel Gibson's romcom has been remade in China with Chinese megastar Andy Lau reprising Gibson's role and Gon Li in Helen Hunt's part. Asia is going through a phase of remaking Hollywood movies with a Japanese version of Ghost already been made and a few others on the cards as well. The whole thing with these Hollywood  remakes is all down to a recent deal  which see several big named movies getting a asian makeover but I dont blame the asian film market for trying as hollywood has been for years destroying many fantastic asian/world  cinema movies with mediocre version.

So above is the first trailer and the movie will be released in China on February 14th, 2011.

Fred Wang (Andy Lau) is the top gun of the leading ad agency has his mind fixed on promotion to creative director. When the post was given to a new colleague Ellen, Fred is given an assignment to prove himself - pitch for a women's hygiene product. While brainstorming Fred met with an accident at home. He wakes up to discover his new gift - the ability to hear women's thoughts. The chauvinist suddenly becomes the expert on women psychology.

Trailer For the uncensored SEX AND ZEN 3D!!!

No comments:
Source Twitch
All around the world it seems film studios want to deceive us of our hard earned cash by creating more and more movies as 3d movies, 99% are just poor with about 1% good/ promising. At first there would only be an exclusive number of movies be released in 3d but now its anything and I mean anything, even sex films!!!
The latest edition to the endless list is the new reworking of the classic Chinese movie SEX AND ZEN now named 3-D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy. Stephen Siu  the producer behind the original is also behind the new version with some sexy Japanese buxoms  Saori Hara and Reiko Suho leading the line for the female cast. The production does look ofdecent qaulity with some fun comedy  to give the movie a professional feel with a big remencisent to old 1970's sexploitation Japanese movies rather than cheap shoddy efforts.
If your a connisouer of Japanese adult movies (cough, cough) the movies have the genetailla pixelated but fear not here boys and girls its uncesenored! Enjoy!!

Trailer For Gao Qunshu's WINDBLAST

No comments:

 Source 24FPS
Gao Qunshu's WINDBLAST is looking like a bit of a revelation as in mainland China as its seems to be the country's first action crime thriller. You might say 'Really' yes it is and if you look at it Hong Kong though now part of China has been making these type of movies for a long time whilst China has been creating more traditional, historical epics which are fantastic too.
The movies plot sees 4 detectives with an unique skill all chasing a criminal who has escaped to the desert but there not the only fours tracking the criminal he also has to contend with 2 bounty hunters as well!
The movie stars Duan Yihong, Xia Yu, Wu Jing, Yu Nan and Charlie Young with the movie hitting the Chinese cinema's from October 28th and if things go well we can expect to see this on DVD around early 2011, trailer after the break...

There's something of a charming feel about this movie despite been set in a backdrop of an steel works, I love the music too that gives the movie a real European edge even eastern european or even Juenet feel as the movies characters seem eccentric but also very likeable. Below after the break is a lengthy promo reel for Chinese filmmaker Zhang Meng's A PIANO IN A FACTORY.When you look at the setting of this movie it could really be anywhere as the world's industry is in decline and towns globally once thriving industrial centre are nothing more than a crumbling ghost town.

Trailer for Derek Kwok's FROZEN (Wai nei chung ching )

No comments:
Source FILMSMASH
First time I noticed the title of this movie I was expecting it was a Chinese remake of the Adam Green movie of the same which comes out in uk on October 1st, but this is completely different.
Derek Kwok's Frozen or Wai Nei Chung Ching is about a woman Cyronically frozen in 1989 to waken up 20 years later to find out her then newborn is older than her! We've seen many movies likes of Freaky Friday where kids swap bodies with children, but I cant recall a movie like this where the kid is now older than the parent though has been the odd time travelling classic movie such as Back To The Future where Marty meets his mum.
The movie does sound very interesting and does have the charm you expect from a chinese/hong kong movie intwined with some fantasy, I didnt expect to see those big hairstyles again (I was 14 in 1989 remember them well!!!)
Frozen is out in Hong Kong on September 2nd, trailer after the break....

Trailer for John Woo's REIGN OF ASSASSINS

No comments:

Source Twitch
Since John Woo decided to move back into the Hong Kong/Chinese movie market I feel a sense of confidence, happiness, a man back on form. Woo'smovie seem to have moved back up to the top where they belong and he is a fine example that Hollywood isn't the dreammaker many filmakers & actors see Hollywood as. Its dogeatdog world and if you hack it on the first attempt and keep the momentum going dreams turn to knightmares.
Bought Red Cliff last week on DVD and if you give me anything set in China when chivlary is in order with John Woo behind the lens Im sold! Here is the first trailer for REIGN OF ASSISSANS which Woo co-directs and produce, proper old school here! The movie is currently in pos-tproduction but what we do know is that Weinstein Company have the American rights so we can expect a release in UK too! Yesss!!!

Movie stars Michelle Yeoh, Woo-sung Jung, Barbie Hsu, Kelly Lin and Shawn Yue, trailer after the break...
