Offical Trailer For British Indie Horror THE BASEMENT

No comments:

source 24FPS
With alot of movies going direct to dvd nowdays, if its british it'll probably have Danny Dyer, the dvd movie king of britain. My Niece adores him he's your 'loveable' cockney geezer and basically still lives on the back of his only real sucessfull movie football factory which is a cult movie within certain faction of football.

The Basement is the latest Danny Dyer flick a British horror starring Jimi Mistry (Exam,2012,Love Guru, blood diamond), Emily Beecham, Kierston Wareing, and Lois Winstone (daughter of Ray Winstone) and looking at the trailer it does look pretty generic: four people locked in a dark unsavoury place and something lurking in the dark trying to take them all out one by one.
Check out the trailer after the break and the movie will be out on DVD and VOD from August 20th:

Offical Trailer For Sundance Hit Documentary 'CATFISH'

No comments:

trailer First Showing
One great thing about film festivals worldwide they always show hidden gems, movies or documentaries no one expected to exceed expectations and this years Sundance Festival had one it was called CATFISH. Rogue Pictures have picked up the rights to give the movie a limited release on September 17th (USA) and they have released an offical trailer which you can check after the break.
The documentary was created by first timer directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, with Sundance audiences as well as critics loving this and not many movies these days get a 5/5 or 10/10 well some critics gave it that, so whats so special about it?
The storyline is riveting and of course the subject matter as well, it shows the full power of what you can do with the internet at your whelm, its really hard to explain as its one of those movies that could spoil if you explained too much, you just have to see it. Hopefully Relativity Media will give the movie a  screening in UK probably more likely to be straight to dvd here.

Unsettling Trailer For Dutch Drama The Odd One Out (Vreemd bloed)

source QuietEarth
About 11 years ago whilst at college I had a part time job at a well known British supermarket chain (wont name names but a tv chef in there ads likes his pukka) and how they worked and I was put in the butcher section. I really did hate cut things, blood out of the packaging and I'm not a vegetarian but the funny thing was the person I replace was a vegan! how could the girl work in such an environment!

When you watch VREEMD-BLOED (The Odd One out) who feel for Jere the youngest of a family of violent butchers, he is the odd one out, he doesnt want to be a butcher but he is forced to follow the family tradition. The whole trailer is like Jere's one big nightmare as he learns the cruelity at a young age the surreal trailer glides throug his life and after the openingyou think this will be a gorefest movie but it's not.

As they say never judge a book by its cover, trailer after the break...

First Trailer for Mark Pellington’s I Melt With You

I Melt With You from Pellington Films on Vimeo.
source affenheimtheater
I found this trailer on Theplaylist yesterday and didn't know what to think of it, then today I see it poping up in many blogs, websites, so what the heck here it is. This is a trailer for Mark Pellington's I Melt With You. The actor that looks in emotional agony in this trailer is Thomas Jane the man who once was Punisher now reinventing himself after a downward spiral which he has now found a exit from. What its about its hard to tell as details are very slim, there is a few details on the IMDB page(click on movie name above), but I notice a few sites saying what the plot is, its spoiler central. The movie stars Christian McKay, Thomas Jane, Jeremy Piven, and Rob Lowe and looking at the trailer , its not your normal convential trailer it's nearly 5 minutes long, more a monologue. The movie doesnt actually start shooting until next month so this is just a taster in what Pellington is trying to do and with this movie with a micro hollywood budget of $1million its going to be a very interesting movie.

Baran bo Odar's movie THE SILENCE (Das letzte Schweigen ), has a sense of tense darkness that's frightly realistic with the whole feel of the movie draw you in to watch it what happens next. Serial Killers unfortunately are reality sadly they exist and when someone creates a movie protraying one of these killer you most times fell automatically its a movie nothing more but with this you feel realism and actually feel for the killers victims.

A First Look at Norweigan Slasher COLD PREY 3 (Fritt Vilt III)

No comments:

Source Twitch
Norway is'nt a country renowned for its slasher movies so when Fritt Vilt (Cold Prey) came out in 2006 it was a risky move as no one knew what the reaction would be. Thankfully for them it was a big hit and its 2010 and we have the third movie (Fritt Vilt 3) and our first look at the movie below.
I found the movie's website by accident yesterday but I was unable to get any form of link so I could post the trailers here but thankfully for courtesy of Twitch the main trailer I posted below. There was also a teaser (official site) which was smartly created in a summary of what happened in movie 1+2 in reverse order as as what happens in the new movie actually is before them (movie 1+2).
Yes Cold Prey does have a few generic parts in it the College kids been hunted by a mysterious madman in a remote part of Norway but the whole production is very well done with the whole  look very intense, fast moving .

A New Full Trailer For Romain Gavras NOTRE JOUR VIENDRA (Redheads)

When you have a movie called Redheads (notre Jour Viendra) and it stars one of Frances biggest stars Vincent Cassel (who also the  producer)plus they tell you its a thriller you may thin yeah right!, but it is! The movie is the debut feature of French music video director turn movie director Romain Gavras (stunning video for MIA's Born Free) and was called Our Day Will Come but for some reason it was changed.

Richard E.Grant is THE MAN WHO MARRIED HIMSELF Trailer

No comments:

To many people Richard E Grant will always been remember as been Withnail from the classic 1987 cult movie Withnail & I but now we can remember him by The Man Who Married Himself.

This is a new British comedy short written &; directed by Garrick Hamm which stars Warren Clark, Emilia Fox (whom I had a crush on when I was younger not realising she is only 1 year older than me!!!)and Celia Imrie all well known names within the British acting world.

What has struck me about this little trailer is the great usage of the graphics and how beautifully shot the movie looks well they do have award winning cinematographer  Michael Seresin (Harry Potter, Angela’s Ashes, Angel Heart). It look typically British: bright, funny, layered with a few dark undertones not forgetting  whacky.
The movie will be shown at 2 of America's prestigous film festivals LA Shorts Fest  which has a knack of selecting the short film s that go onto win the Oscar for best movie short! You can also catch the movie at Rhodes Island International Film Festival which actually can help the movie qaulify for a possible Oscar nomination.

The short movie has been created by Sergio Luca Loreni an is a brilliant looking amotspheric sci-fi cyberpunk movie first impressions Blade Runner is a big inspiration. I just wonder why so many moviemakers over do it on the CGI making it so obivous there walking past a big blue screen, it ruins possible good movies though this one looks not too bad though.. I dont know when this maybe available online if does ill post it here.

The story takes place in 2068 and is set in a place very similar to Minsk, the capital of Belarus which sits nestled on the borderline between Russia and Europe, called New Minsk. In this future incarnation, corporations have near complete control of industry and communication. The story follows one man who rises up against one of the most powerful multinational corporations exposing the company’s genetic experimentation project code named R.O.A.C.H.

Trailer after the break....

Young writer Guo (Shawn Yue) wrote about a titular curse in his book, “The Deserted Village”. It began 500 years ago in the Ming Dynasty, when one of the villagers died of terminal illness. The widow Yanzi vowed to stay with her husband forever but when the man suddenly returned to life.
The horrified neighbours believed that he was a monster. They burned him to death and torched his mansion. The devastated Yanzi upheld her vow and threw herself into the fire. Since then, the village was cursed and the mansion subsequent inhabitant dies mysteriously.
Some say only couples who share true love can survive in that village. Those who are unfaithful will come to their demise. To the world, the book was pure fiction. Only Guo and his ex-girlfriend Zhi (Kitty Zhang) had lived through the horror to know its existence.
When four college students decided to explore the village themselves, the trip led them to an ancient well in Yanzi’s mansion, where the curse was unleashed once again.

If this movie was a cheeseburger the amount of cheese on it would rocket you cholesteral leve; through the roof, but hey we do love what were seeing from MR & MRS INCREDIBLE.This was one of the reason I love cinema, something a little different, cheesy but fun looking and sadly we dont get enough of that in mainstream hollywood these days. The movie stars  Louis Koo and Sandra Ng as our heros and the movie did play out at Cannes and did get a great reaction and you can see why in the 3 teaser trailers after the break. The teasers are called "The Moon-landing story", "The Superman story" and "The Golf story" each with there mini story to tell about the movies protaganists.
This is over the topstuff here, though funny full of action as well been created on a big budget, will it be a big sucess, hard to tell as asian markets are alot different than western ones, but dont be surprised if this is a sucess itll be ripped off by Hollywood in a cheap looking remake.

Trailer For Un Poison Violent (Love Like Poison)

I love Radiohead and have there music on my mp3 player as well play via my laptop as I write this blog, love it when there songs are used in movies be it the originals or covers by others but how many trailers are we going to get with the cover of Creep as its tune?
First we have David Fincher's Social Network trailer and now add Un Poison Violent (Love Like Poison)Katell Quillévéré’s new movie. What's so annoying its the same choir cover so the count is on to see which film will use it next!
Un Poison Violent is an awarding winning movie winning one of the prizes at this years Cannes Festival and the movie is about Anna a young girl who comes home from boarding school to find her family is falling apart. Throw in her confirmation, her father leaving and her  new love interest.
The movie does look wonderfully shot and it does seem to cover religion and faith quite strongly with the young girl questioning her faith which is good as a religion is usually forced on people when there young by there parents, I repsect religions but against religion been forced on people by others. If you want religion, you will find it not others and despite the repetite music it does help the trailer very well.
The movie is out in France on August 4th, trailer after the break...

Dante Lam's THE STOOL PIGEON (Sin Yan) will be out in Hong Kong on August 26th and it has a new trailer now in English subtitles. Xavi Giménez  is renowned for his cinematography on many big movies including The Machinist (Christian Bale) and more recently Agora (Rachel Weisz) but no w he makes his directoral debut with CRUZANDO EL LÍMITE (Yellow). I dont have much info on it but it does look very impressive especially for a debut feature, very gritty and the boot camp type drama, maybe like a das experiment for young adults . The movie will be out sometime this year in Spain and if Spain is anything like Hollywood it could be within the next 3 months.

Teaser For Live Action GANTZ (part 1)

No comments:

source Twitch
Back in the 1990's I knew alot of Anime/Manga that was out mostly than's to Helen McCarthy's Anime UK magazine it was essential reading for all British/Irish anime/manga fans. But like many things the rightwing media of Uk destroys anything popular by sentsationalising it with some negative press articles (they caught onto the hentai - porn anime and made people think all anime is pornographic   as well violent) and the fans drew away alltogether or underground.  I've tried my best to keep up with whats going on maybe borrowing friends anime or watching it online. Japan is very proud of there animation & comicbook industry if your aged 1 or 99 theres always something for you a respected medium so watching popular titles become animation then live action cinema versions is not unusal so we have the latest GANTZ.
The great thing about this anime its known worldwide and even though many manga/anime's do become live action some can be a bit poorly made more made for tv than cinema but Gantz does look like one of the better ones. I have heard of it but have no clue what the story is all about but if you enjoy young guys jumping around in leather pvc suits and a mysterious black ball check this out, i've tried to get a english synopsis but no luck.

It took me a few minutes to click this movie is an adaptation of one of my favourite author's Haruki Murakami NORWEGIAN WOOD. Movieis directed by Vietnamese director Anh Hung Tran and it will be the author's first book to be transfered to the big screen so alot of expectations will be very high. The trailer doesn't show much (it is only a teaser) to have any thoughts on it but it does look good so far. As this book is inspired by an Beatles song music will probably play a big part of this movie and ive seen a few posts that say this movies score maybe be by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood so interest is even greater now!!!

Below is the French trailer for Julian SchnabeL's movie MIRAL starring Slumdog Millionaire's Frieda Pinto, Willem Dafoe,Vanessa Redgrave and Alexander Siddig.
Hiam Abbass plays a Palestinan woman who sets ( real) orphanage in Jerusalem and Pinto plays Miral a girl who grows up in the orphanage becoming a activist when she is assigned to teach at a refugee camp and sees the whole outcome that Palestinians & Israelis dont get on well with each other.
The movie will annoy a few folks especially in States as politically could be seen as left wing and the shocking thing is The Weinstein Company are releasing this movie in USA?! The messege of this film will be alot more forceful than Schnabels last movie Diving Bell and the Butterfly which is a big hit with many critics.
Miral is due out late 2010.

Trailer for Thriller Restaurant (Gekijô-ban: Kaidan resutoran )

It's not just the American's who like to bring Comicbooks to the big screen, the Japanese do to and have probably doing it a lot longer than there Yankee cousins. The trailer below is an fine example of Manga/Anime adaptation of Gekijô-ban: Kaidan resutoran:THRILLER RESTAURANT.
The movie is based on thepopular manga book series that ran from 1996-2007 based on a Kaiden restaurant Obake Garcon (Ghost Waiter) tells horror stories to children. The books have just recently been created into a anime which aired last october and this movie actually is a animtion/live action hybrid with the first 13 minutes all been in animation before converting to live action.
This is basically one for the young teens/kids and its strange that the movies director Masayuki Ochiai is more known for his adult horrors like Parasite Eve, Infection and Hollywood remake of the Thai horror Shutter.

Thriller Restaurant will be in Japanese cinemas from August 21st, trailer after the break...

English Version Trailer For Anime REDLINE

source Twitchfilm
Back in the early 1990's I was lucky in the UK to have a chance tp follow Manga& Anime when you could go into shops buy various magazines, watch anime on tv that wasn't Pokemon or Beyblade, new videos (it was still video back in those days)out everyweek and you had unlimited resources to find out whats going on. Nowdays thanks to antianime sentsationalised reporting by the rightwing media of UK the fanbase has went more underground or struggles to find where to get new movies/comics, its sad because theres more to anime than just Naruto. I still love to delve in and see what I'm missing but finance prevents me going further because when you have great anime like REDLINE you want to be involved more.
Redline is the creation of Takeshi Koike (Ninja Scroll) and Katsuhito Ishii (Taste of Tea) for Madhouse Studios and the movie will be getting a release in North America soon as for UK & Ireland thats a good question.
It's sad in today society especially in UK & Ireland watching animation or reading manga and your over 25 the media regards you as mentally unstable, if only they understood animation and comic books are for all ages!

Franco plays poet Alan Ginsberg who is a leader in the 1950′s Beat generation and the movie focuses on the obscenity trial he was involved in 1957.The movie has done the festival run and came back with alot of rave reviews and now September 24th the movie will be released stateside, no UK/Irish date has been confirmed
plot:It’s San Francisco in 1957, and an American masterpiece is put on trial. Howl, the film, recounts this dark moment using three interwoven threads: the tumultuous life events that led a young Allen Ginsberg to find his true voice as an artist, society’s reaction (the obscenity trial), and mind-expanding animation that echoes the startling originality of the poem itself. All three coalesce in a genre-bending hybrid that brilliantly captures a pivotal moment-the birth of a counterculture. -imdb

It's A coming of Age Tale For A Robot in Kike Maillo's EVA

No comments:

Source TwitchFilm (poster source Opium)
Daniel Bruhl's name became even more well known after last years Inglorious Basterds, before then more known for German/ Spanish movies. In the Basterd's he played  the charming but pyschotic Frederik Zoller but now we see him in a different light in EVA.
In this movie he plays Alex a cybernetic engineer who is asked to work on a robotic child and though we may not be used to seeing Bruhl in a part like this, this movie does look very good. You will see a little A.I resemblance with the robot child connection but overall this Spanish flick has a little more oompf than A.I as it looks evenly balanced from the actors, cgi even right down to the score, a good movie with a character story.
Read the synopsis and check out the trailer after the break...

Is this Hong Kong gone J-Horror? well slightly true as the production company have hired some japanese expertise. Don't know much on the movie apart from it's based in a hospital nd even the movies stars are not saying a word either which could suggest this is something bigger been created. It does have a few big names involved with Simon Yam and Frances Ng is it a major viral? Well whatever it is Midnight Heart is out in Hong Kong in September, trailers after the break....

Having a search through the mysterious world called the world wide web to bring you some goodies for you to enjoy and came across this little cracker of a movie short starring "I'm in everything British made " Noel Clarke.
The short movie is called REIGN OF DEATH and was created by Matthew Savage it's a CGI short movie similar in style as 300, Sin City. When you watch the trailer it's like a fallback to the old film noir mixed up with fritz lang inspired sci-fi...pulp science fiction! It's a simple story of  a 1930s vision of the future and gumshoe chases down a robotic murder suspect, the movie came out last year but cinehouse wasn't around when this came out, so enjoy!

Trailer For Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phamtom Flame Trailer

No comments:
source Filmsmash

When I first spotted this trailer before I even looked at the link or what the movie was about it sounded like it was a scooby doo type movie and how wrong I was. The movies title ( Di Renjie - original name)  Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phamtom Flame is enough to attract any one to find out more!.
D-project (its short name) stars Andy Lau (Future X-Cops, The Warlords) and Bingbing Li (the forbidden Kindom) in a Action crime thriller  as well been set not in modern day but 690AD. As if said many times on this blog the Chinese/Hong Kong know how to create period movies is spectacular fashion and this one is big!
This time last year I was in Guangzhou, China and everywhere you went as well on TV Andy Lau was everywhere on Pepsi & Shampoo billboards, tv ads he is big money ! He is actully remaking What Woman Want the Mel Gibson movie it seems to be a deal that some of the hollywood  movies to be remade into asian movies (theres a japanese version of Ghost coming too), well think about it Hollywood is always looking at the foreign movie market for new movies usually destroying them, so why cant it be reversed? dont blame them
